HKUGAPS - more teachers are leaving

The students are unhappy and they are asking "why" because another 2 teachers have left the School over the past few weeks .....

Words are saying 12 more teachers are not returning for the next school year (one language department will have almost all new teachers), and the rumor says, among all subjects, this number may go as high as over 20!!

If this is true, including those 17 who have left in the last 2 years, this school should have a record number of leaving teachers in the first 3 years of business.

Could anyone think of what is going on in that school?

今年9月開校的直資有培僑,明年有浸小,播道及羅氏等等,和HKUGA基本上理念相同,港大同學會D教師有直資學校經驗應很搶手,有挖角潮不足為奇。真道也可能有這些煩惱。

Poor administration and ever-changing school policy.  Teachers are hired on contract basis.  No job security......

This is not only for HKUGAPS, but for many schools.

Last year, when my son was due to admit P1, my friend's husband (a secondary school principal) said that the comments from 教育界 for HKUGA was not very good.

So is your son studying in similar type of school or traditional school now?

My son is now studying in a traditional Catholic school.

I wonder what made you think that I am Mr. Nicholas. Since you made that assumption, could you be "the Mrs. Chan" at HKUGAPS?

Oops! I am sorry. I am not the Mr. Nicholas  whom you have in mind ...... we, the parents, always wonder why so many teachers including Mr. Nicholas left in the middle of the school term. How could this keep happening for the past three years and the school seems to have done nothing to salvage the situation?

Dear IsaacNewton & Savoy,

I don't know what's the relationship between and what has exactly happened among your children and Nicholas.   The only thing I believe is that, Nicholas doesn't have time to surf and most important of all, he's not aware of this website.   

Furthermore, previous articles published by Justme or Justme2 were poorly written with just too many grammatical mistakes and were indeed "Chingish".   Yes, it is true that one could purposedly make grammatical mistakes but it is not easy for one to change his/her writing style.  

I support the school as you all do.  Don't just put all blame on one party for a broken marriage.   It does take two to tango.

I am also concerned with the stability of the teaching force.    But just because the school is new, and that we have children studying there, we as parents could unite to help ensure its healthy growth.   

Shall we have all such arguments offline to preserve the image of the school in which our beloved children and attending?

If you want to check whether a school is good or not, you just check how many students have parents from the field of education, especially from EMB.  This data is an important information to show whether the school is good or not.

If you want to check whether a school is good or not, you just check how many students have parents from the field of education, especially from EMB. This data is an important information to show whether the school is good or not.

I don't think so. I have another method to check whether a school is good or not.

1. If a secondary school headmaster comments a new school as not good enough, then that school must be very good (they afraid competition).

2. If  have too many parents from educational fields, especitally from EMB, don't choose it. (If EMB is smart, why HK education is in such a chaos situation).

Haha, good point. We can also read the complaint from parent in BK forum to know that this school is NO GOOD. And sure NOT recommend to our friends.

2. 你對 HKUGA 的評價是什麼? 最滿意及最不滿意的地方是什麼?
3. 住九龍的學生多不多? 是否可提供九龍中至學校的大概行車時間?

We all know what the problem is, but unfortunately the problem will never go away. Three more teachers and staff has just resigned and the number climbs to close to 20 this year. This marks a record number of around 40 people have left the school within the first 3 years. When parents are hoping to get their children in, teachers are rushing to get out!
