Local school F4 轉 IB, 困難嗎？

小女今天local school 升中四，認為 IB 課程適合自己, 想 17-18 school year 插班 grade 10. if not successful, may apply admission to grade 11 next year. Her english is excellent, other subjects are above average. but is it too late for her to change to study IB course. she is desperately dream for a chance to study IB. Her priority now is 1- Li Po Chun, 2- Renaissance College. Any chance ? or Any other alternative / suggestions ? 盼賜教

應該不會太難，高年班好多人走，也可考慮耀中。但點解突然咁嚮往IB? 呢排可能多人講認識多了, 似乎有不少local school 學生很嚮往IS

小女自小已嚮往western education, owing to budgetary cause, i have no choice but take a middle approach to let her taking the IB course. Any comment on her choice, Li Po Chun and 啟新書院 ？how about Shatin college ?

For 17-18 , shatin college may not accept you as year 11. As year 10.11 is for igcse.

You just apply all of them, if her English is good enough chance should be high. Many IS kids leave at higher grades. I think SC slightly more difficult than RC because of the exceptionally good IB results more people will apply. I am not sure about the situation of LPC.

1) 李寶樁-只提供IBDP兩年課程，上學校website 留意18-19入讀的招考日期;
2）SC/RC-同樣是上網留意18-19的入學申請，但屆時應是報讀Y12;若是今年插班，也應該是Y11。
ESF 學校中Shatin College競爭激烈, 留意。

女兒主要 get tired and even get sick of dse model , always complains of little room for creative and critical thinking. 我個人比較 concern 校方。 the foresaid LPC, RC and SC 是否 ok 呢 ？

LPC 過去都是highly competitive, 收生除香港的學生外，還包括世界各地的學生，他們都是獲scholarship 來香港讀IB, 著重all rounded 發展，以升讀外國名牌大學為主。留意那兩年是必須寄宿的。

SC & RC 的校風均算ok, 而且去到Y12 & 13那兩年，實在好忙的，好難會那時才學壞；至於會否拍拖就天曉得啦！

拖拍，間間都不能避免，local school, 傳統女校都會，只好教佢要學業為重，如情況太失控，我會送佢去齋校boarding，不過我相信我女應該不會。

Turning to IB after F4 at LS is not a problem. My kids did the same and they are very happy and doing well.  If your daughter academic is above average, try these: LPCUWC, SPCC, CIS and all the ESF (if location is right, not necessary SC). But they are all difficult to get in.

LPC 唔單看成績，而係看 leadership ( 申請人要去 challenge day & interview )。唔一定高分先收，如果成績中上，又在 challenge day & interview 表現好就得。
幾年前，我朋友個仔去了 LPC ，入到心儀大學 ( 美國 )，但成績比目標 result 差了少少 。
我地幾個朋友，比較了 LPC ESF 的 IBDP ，覺得入 LPC 要 time management 比在 ESF 更好。
LPC 宿舍環境麻麻，好逼，中產孩子會唔慣，活動亦好似比 ESF 多，當然是否參加可自主，但比在家住冇咁專注。
如果一心衝高分 (想 43+ 分) 建議入其他 IB school ，專心少少。
如果為 experience，入 LPC 值得，因為 exposure 真係唔同。
如果可以 afford ，我建議考慮外國的 UWC ，exposure 更好。

If ones solely targets to get high score in public exam in order to get into so called 神科 in HK, they better stay and take the DSE, shouldn't consider to change to IB.  IB is not just about exam and marks, is about experience, how to become mature people and respectable global citizen. Nowadays university degree just give you a start, but all those characters/personality and experience lead the students to a successful future.  However, most IB schools in HK still put too much emphasis on final score (just way too much).

其實想拿高分唔一定想入神科。
有些人就是如好勝。

我建議真係去外國 UWC。
香港的 IB 已經人面全非，EK 的 topic 就靠 IB results 來認叻。
其實，當有本地學校開始搞 IB 已知一定搞到咁。
我仔女已經畢業，影響少，再落去，香港 IB 只會更越來越 "non-IB"。

都係架，其實去到最尾兩年，IS的生活都可能和local school差不多，都主要是為考試作準備，至於去外國，樓主好似話budget關係所以選香港。
