Anyone who is on RC waiting list recently got called for Y1 placement?
Want to know my chance of getting in, as you know they don't reveal the position on waiting list.

I think the chance is not very high. You know, RC admission details have always been kept quite misterious.

I will do some math for you. In ESF TY, about 20-25% got offer in first round, so about 40 or so i guess. From those i know, only about 20% took the offer. That is, at least 30 spots should have been released. I guess may be a higher percentage from WKS will take the offer as some may live closer to ma on shan. Still, at least a few dozens spots should have been released (not even counting those not studying in ESF kinder).

But till now, not many in the inital waiting list have received calls from RC. It certainly doesn't match up with the number of spots that have been released. So, the rumour (denied by school) that they over-offered quite a lot in the first round (in anticipation of a high turn down rate from esf kinder students) may be true.

If that's the case, the prospects of those on waiting list who hasn't yet received any calls may not be good. Of course, as i said before, if you are willing to buy NR, you may stand a much better chance.

Do you know anyone who passed the interview and with priority of any sort did not get offer at this stage?

RC "over offered"? This is the first time I hear of this rumour and it is most probably just that, a rumour.

When there are 800 applicants competing for 180 Y1 places, there is simply no need to "over offer" because there is no chance that the 180 places would not be filled. After the first round is over and some people have declined their offers, RC will just offer to those on the reserve list and eventually to those on the wait list, there is no lack of eager candidates.

For those who didn't have chance for interview in Jan 2017, their application will be rolled over to Y2 2018-19.   They also mentioned that they would not have another round of interview.  The above is the reply from RC admissions.

Guess all spots have been filled up!

We should just trust the system the school introduced. The arrangement of new student intake is clearly communicated during the briefing session. This is my first time to learn about "over-offered" and what's the point of "over-offered" anyway.... The school has a long wait-list, many I know are still waiting to hear from them.

To those who didn't get the offer in 1st round, don't give up! We received offer in early May and we are now one happy RC member.

Oh. Come on. Be fair! How can over-offer be the same as waitlist?
An "offer" is you get an official letter confirming you are offered a place, probably asking you to place a deposit of some kind as well.

PS. My son in the the middle of getting offers from different universities and the word "Offer" is definitely unique.

RC tend to use unusual wording in their communications. A few years ago my daughter received a "formal OFFER for a place on the waiting list", those were their exact words :)

With caps? Interesting.
So what were the wordings they used for the actual offer of admission/acceptance.

Haha, no, the CAPS was my exaggeration :)
OK I dug up RC's letter from a few years back and following is their actual wording, complete with the formatting they used (i.e. italic / bold / underline) ...

"We genuinely regret that a school place is not currently available at this time. We are, however, pleased to advice you that we are formally offering your child a place on the wait list for the 2014 - 2015 academic year. Please be aware that we cannot guarantee that a place will become available."

I have no idea what wording they would use for an actual offer of admission.
