Island school is a good school. Students are very nice. Teachers are warm-hearted and very talented. They can motivate the students to learn.

唔知低件班如何, 但有幾位我常見的親友仔女由幼稚園----> Glenealy ---> Island School, 而家最後2年IB.  早幾年, 佢地哥哥家姐讀時話尚好, 但近呢兩三年頗有微言.  其中一問題是早幾年來左新校長, 我唔太明, 但佢話新校長推行一種選科方式, 對將來考試入大學有害無利, 仲叫d學生去其他 esf 中學sell 佢個新 concept.  佢話明眼人一睇就知唔掂, 被迫出去推銷的學生都唔想講, 更加不能成功 sell 到比其他 esf 中學.  呢樣係其一, 另外有d 其他濕碎野, 基本上就係校長麻麻地.

老師同任何學校一樣, 要撞彩.  呢位小朋友好唔好彩, 撞正一科有個衰到貼地的老師, 但其他亦有好老師的.  衰到貼地個情況, 恕我唔想係到post, 不想被圍插, 可pm.  

我呢幾位Island School的小朋友直情話唔建議人入去, 早幾年佢地阿媽都仲話學校幾好, 而家見到我都唔再咁講啦.  但低年班又同高年班未必盡同, 因著眼點唔太一樣, 而且可能再過幾年有新校長呢.  但無可否認, 因為佢地要搬去大圍, 好多原來catchement的學生都唔想入, 我個仔以前係Glenealy, 當時d同學好多諗定後路, 住得係個區, 邊個想去大圍返學?

反而我識有朋友亦有親戚仔女係 South Island, comment都唔錯, 聽講校長幾好.  聽友人講, 學校對y7一發現學生用手機whatsapp群組有問題, 最近即刻 ban左, 要全級取消左佢地個 y7 大群組 (whatsapp問題包括浪費時間, bullying, 物都有), 我覺得學校做得幾好, 會monitor下學生不同層面.

這個我就不知道了. 我只係睇佢d相, 見南亞, 西人, 黃面孔物都有d.  佢話讀書如何, 其中一項係每年學生都唔同.  佢地d 家姐阿哥, 早三年前左右畢業個批出左一班勁人, 如果你搵返3年前record就明我講物. 但佢話佢呢年就冇兄姐個年d人咁勁, 而低佢一年個批就慘不忍睹.  部份係學校 (佢地覺得部份高年班老師有問題, 令到某d學科同學們要大批大批出去補習), 但每年學生都有不同, 有時遇著個年d人好認真好勤力, 又有d人好叻, 咁會感染的.  呢d都正常, 如你睇一般學校考IB, 成績多多少少會fluctuate, 除非有某d學校鍾意勸退學生, 又或揀學生讀IB, 個d學校淨比精英考, 咁成績梗係 consistent.

但聽聞低年班的學生對學校很滿意, 但高年班的著眼點和低年班的著眼點不同, 低年班會比較著重校舍搬遷時宜, 整體適應, 老師學生亙動, 校園氣氛.  高年班就是考試和入大學.

It's really hard to say which is the best ESF school as the schools all go through cycles. Historically, Island and South Island have been the best ESF schools from an academic perspective but in recent years, Shatin College and WIS have done extremely well in university placements. As some poster mentioned, it depends on the crop of students that year as well. But I do think that for those kids in Kowloon, it's a great opportunity to go to Island School while it's situated in Tai Wai, although I don't know if the facilities are any good

My husband told me that people from hk island tend to be less willing to go to other parts of hk, but those from Kowloon and NT are more flexible. So I guess eventually Island School may be filled with mostly from the non-original catchment areas. Feel so bad for those kids needing to travel so much coming to mid levels eventually when the school moves back.

Some people think Island school was good traditionally may be because of the demographic of the students coming from relatively more affluent areas such as the peak and central mid levels ( not even the further part of western mid levels), many of these students have strong ties to better universities  and better opportunities at the start of their career due to family and connections. Therefore it creates the illusion that graduates from Island school are more notable than the other ESF schools.
Not sure if this is the case....
