會示範，亦會叫學生聽其他演奏者彈奏，引導學生判斷及分析處 ...

If you have not played that piece before or it is a very difficult piece, will you still 會示範?

I want to know the above because I have come across with a teacher who does not play any piece (whole piece). She just only demonstrate a very few portion of it and sometimes just demonstrate a bit. Is it a good teacher to teach higher grade?

You mean that you just play the recordings during the lesson or ask your students to listen at home. Then how you teach your student if you do not demonstrate?

Will you demonstrate a portion e.g. 2 pages, which will only take about few minutes?
Personally, I cannot accept a teacher who teaches higher grades cannot demonstrate a portion when they teach the new piece.

Well said.
A teacher is to teach, not to play.
But it's still effective for a teacher to demonstrate phrases to their students which is verbally hard to explain.

Sometimes, I find that the teacher is talking much but I do not know how to do. When I show her the CD and ask her some advices about how to play, she is not willing to answer and says that different persons have different styles. Then I find that it is very confusing. I want to ask why always I have to play first and then she corrects me. Why not she tell me or demonstrate properly to me?

Let me take an example: a kid wants to learn swimming but his coach never goes into the water and demonstrate and just talking. Will you let your kid to learn swimming with him?

Some teachers intentionally make their students play first so that the students can really try for themselves because it's easier to play after hearing it.  Every teacher has his own way of teaching.  Some would demonstrate and some wouldn't.  In our experience, the teachers would demonstrate, depending on the length, sometimes only the more difficult part.  During the lesson, my daughter would not be able to try to play the new piece though.  The teacher only asked her to try the more difficult sections. That was it.  I thought the teacher should at least make the student try once.

In your case, it looks like that you doubt the capability of your teacher.  When you asked her to demonstrate, what was her response?

去到7，8級既歌，老師都係sightread幾句比小朋友聽，講番首曲應該係咩感覺，重點係邊度，至於點樣彈，份譜寫晒啦。我仔通常會聽幾個演奏家彈的版本，再諗下自己想點彈。

I personally like music teachers that will also play the pieces . It makes the parent and student fall in love with the music. It helps instill the passion in music. We look forward to the weekly music lesson. Sometimes a teacher is a lot more than teaching , it's like a guidance. You need to have meet these teachers to know what I mean.

我仔的老師一定會示範怎樣彈首歌，講真八級或以下的歌無理由彈唔到，演奏級的就話難啫
齋講無示範，我跟阿仔去上堂上咗8年都吹到似層層架
不過老師極少由頭到尾演奏一次既，小朋友無心機聽啦。通常係教邊段就示範點樣彈，點樣演繹。阿仔已考完8級，現在老師除了示範之外，亦會叫他自己上YouTube聽下不同演奏家的演繹，從中學習不同的演繹方法。

其實好難只憑一次試堂就試出老師是否適合，通常只是拿個印象，起碼不會一開始就覺得反感先。起碼要上幾堂先知多D。我仔幾年前跟過一位老人家學了3堂，我怕怕立即替他轉老師。有時還要睇老師和孩子是否溝通得到。我仔之前的鋼琴老師好有料，阿仔都覺得她的演繹好些，奈何我仔總係唔明白她的要求，結果常常被她罵，搞到關係差。跟咗她幾年好唔捨得，但最後還是轉咗老師，新老師講既野和前老師差不多，只是表達方式不一樣，我仔却是接受。佢無福氣去跟個好一點的老師

我女跟左呢個老師十幾年。小女不才，而家至準備考七級（我無迫佢老師亦無迫），同期都考AT了。
我見佢地上堂，老師會先示範一次，一邊解釋邊度應該點演釋，呢首歌講咩，作者咩背景，技巧上有咩特別難處同容易出錯之處。
比賽、考琴，老師都會安排。我女雖然hea學，但咁多年黎比賽考試，經老師手都穩穩陣陣的。校際藍cert一大堆，紅cert都拎過兩次。
除左應付比賽考試外，老師會教唔同種類嘅歌。等學生認識多d都試下唔同野，發展下音樂感同培養興趣。有時有d值得聽嘅公開表演，老師自己帶晒成班學生入場，等家長唔駛買一張飛

唔駛pm我了，我少少分享啫，老師唔收新學生好耐了。
