聖誕假期間(12月尾-1月頭)仍可報英國寄宿中學嗎?

我個囡而家係美國讀緊high school yr12,  但想去英國讀A level, 重讀1年中六,上網睇左好多學校資料都要考入學試, 一係在agent度考,一係去british council, 我地唔打算send 份試卷去囡囡間學校度考,而美國嘅british council又冇考試服務, 唯有打算聖誕假期間番香港考, 唔知咁嘅情況仲有冇位? 同埋自己報定經agent好D?

我囡屬意:
concord college
Lancing college
Ruthin school
Roedean school
(在美國成績幾好,GPA 4.0, 之前在港就讀Band 1 尾英中, 成績中上)


以上學校學費有D貴(Ruthin 還可以), 而且好似都幾多華人, 唔知大家有冇其他好介紹? 或者對上面D學校有comment?

It may be worthwhile for you to talk to some agents and hear what they say.  


To my limited knowledge, for Sixth Form, many of the top schools will announce their main round of admission in end of Nov to Dec. If there are still places after this round, then of course they will still consider new students, but obviously these new students will be at a disadvantaged position comparing with the main round students, since if there are no places left, then no matter how good you are, you will still not get a place.  


For the schools you have mentioned, I have seen a couple of cases, from my friends, where they apply /got offer after the main rounds.  But really not sure if they are the exception or the norm. Maybe agents can give some idea regarding this.

1. St Mary's Calne,
2. King's Canterbury
3. Oundle

Thank you for your kindly help and information. I've visited those three schools' website that you mentioned above. All three schools are  very good school with excellent academic result and provide all-around education as well, especially Oundle . However, entrance to Oundle is very competitive, applicants mostly apply three years prior entry and the school only admit approximately 5 sixth form girls each year, so, I don't think my daughter will get a chance in the second round. St Mary's,Clane has the similar situation. And for King's Canterbury, they only admit applicants aged under 17 on Sep 1st 2017, by that time my daughter is already 17.

Anyways, thanks again for your help. I have a further question, what schools did your friends applied to after the main round and still got an offer? I'd like to take a look on those schools' website.

Aged under 17 is a general guideline only & not a mandatory requirement.   My daugher faces the same situation, we have send email to King's & asked the age issue, they understood HK student were generaly one year older and they accepted her application.

Just want to share, Roedean has low HK & Chinese student ratio in lower form but will increase sharply insixth form & a lot of students with good GCSE result will leave after year 11 to join other higher ranking school.   But in fact, this is a general phenomenon in other schools too.
In terms of facilities & environment, Roedean is excellent.   In terms of location, Brighton is a very nice city, very convenient & nice weather but Roedean is very windy as this is up in the hill in front of marina..

I know Roedean has a lot of Asian sixth form students, so I'm still deciding. But I agree your point that it's a good school in terms of environment

你唔講我都唔知, 唔該曬, 可能因為你囝囝/囡囡讀英中所以學校英文排名後,但比起其他申請人都ok呢
