May I ask if there are any activities like e.g. Field trip, picnic, sport days, birthday parties, Xmas party?
And how about singing songs, teacher reading books apart from free playing during the school day?

Yes, ESF has the mentioned activities but not frequent at all.... Only once per year.

No picnic and birthday parties either.

In TY K2, we had 3 field trips. One was to to the Chinese temple nearby to learn Chinese culture. One was to Tsing Yi Park for the unit Living Things. The recent one was to ICC for the unit Structures.

They have a lot to do at school. Like Annieeinna said, reading and singing are routine. Their so call free play are all material related to the topic of that learning unit. For example, this term is related to structures, and from this week newsletter, I saw them having teamwork tasks using Lego / blocks etc to build a tall building to see which one is stronger. A big long paper were given to them to draw tall structures. Teacher said they were given stones and ice as different material to build structures. I love this type of play based learning instead of from text books!

My boy is studying in ESF Abacus. They went to the beach as outing; as the school has a garden outside, they will have activity there, e.g fun day, picnic, sport day etc. I guess it depends on the setting & facilities in school or nearby to set the activities.
