Well. This discussion is getting no where (as usual).
First, my message was not for anyone but the person who first said that Math Studies is not what Canadian universities like. I only added that US universities also do not like MS.
I am only a parent. I do not know a lot of cases. But it is generally what most admission advisor would honestly tell students: there are lots of cases where students with English B or Math Studies do not get offers from "good" universities in the US, even with good overall grades.
How much help is it with US university by moving down from English A to English B or Math SL to MS is really hard to say.
Similar discussions have been created EK during the past 4 - 5 years regarding English B and MS.
Students can believe in what they want to believe.
If a student has already chosen to take English B or MS, I would definitely not reply to the discussion since that is really discouraging.
However, if a student is only asking for whether he should move from English A to English B, or Math SL to MS, I would definitely say "NO". Unless the student thinks he is going to fail.
Sorry. I cannot be like some other professional tutors/admission advisors that claims to have solid cases where students can get good offers with these subjects. Sorry for not being too encouraging.
