my son is now 2.5 years old and when he was around 2 years old, he attended Steps but I changed to Guideposts because the Steps teacher/program was not very interesting and the teacher didn't seem to understand the personality of each child and didn't use an appropriate way to meet individual needs. Furthermore, when children were naughty or running around/rolling on the mats, the teacher couldn't (or didn't) ask them to behave.
At Guideposts, the teachers are from the Kindergarten itself and one of the teacher was a Guidepost Kinder teacher for 10+ years and changed to manage the playgroup program. The teachers will ask kids to behave and follow instructions which is good because then kids will not disturb other children by their disruptive behavior. The playgroup for 2-3 years old is also conducted half in English and half in Cantonese so the kids will have exposure to both languages. I recommend Guideposts if you are looking for a more structured and experienced teachers (esp for older kids). But if your kid is very small like below 2 years old, then Steps would just be a normal playgroup and don't have any expectation on it. |
