If i didnt get it wrong, Year 1 is for kids at 5 yrs old.  So, i GUESS (pls check up with NAIS website) Year 1 for yours will be year 2017/2018.  The school (or company lol) said that application can be done anytime of the year.  However, i guess there is already a long waiting list there just as any other intnl school.

I just know most of the kids at NAIS are very happy, many of their parents are professionals & expatriate! Teachers are from UK mainly and I saw their comments on kids Term Assessment are all very detailed, they have detailed plans for parents from school, telling parents how they are going to get things improve in different time slot and target date (eg. Next Term, Term 1 or Term 2 etc).. I'm very impressed with that. It's like a strategic planning for a kid to grow in their academics path! My relative's son become more caring and gentleman since last year admitted into NAIS, very big change!

I know friends from both schools, both gave very good remarks to their respective schools. Anfield is very caring indeed. NAIS seems to be quite academic. You may pay a visit to the schools to get a feeling of them. There should be open day in Oct/Nov.

I had a school visit to Nord Anglia two years ago, it gave me an impression of too commercial and the campus is relatively small, especially of their playground.
Couple months ago, when I searched inf for a Yr 6 girl and I found that Nord doesn't have upper secondary class (which means you have to find another school/go abroad after year 9 or 11, I can't remember which secondary year program they provide up to).

Principal of NAIS just announced to parents that a second campus is secured for an all-through education to Year 13. If everything goes well, the new site will welcome first students next Aug.

Quoted from Topschool:

Nord Anglia International School Hong Kong has successfully secured a second campus on Hong Kong Island that will allow the school to offer an all-through education option from Nursery to Year 13. The new campus is set to open in August 2017 and will will provide places forNursery and Reception classes as well as Years 1-3, subject to receipt of customary regulatory approvals.
The Lam Tin campus will be developed further for Years 4–13, to house the expanding Secondary school.

Before my kid got it Nais, always heard others saying v positive things about the school.  Now after almost a month since school starts, I can understand why! My kid really enjoys school everyday, always felt excited to update me what happened at school when I picked him up! I can also see teachers and the school are v serious in school matter. Response to parents are very prompt and helpful to any enquiries and concerns, which made me worry free that I know my kid is in their good hands! I like v much the students mix too, like my class, there are kids from many diff countries, Britain, the US, Europe, Japan, India, Taiwan, China, Hk....etc, most importantly, they are v behaved!

Also like their collaboration with Julliard school of Art in New York and MIT 麻省理工. My kid even can learn 1 to 1 musical instrumemt at school, chances to perform and encourage to attend the public exam of the instrument. Their expansion to the 2nd site also facilitates their ambition to help students to get into top universities just like any other Nais in other countries.

Having seen what they are doing and what they are going to do, I can see the school must be doing better and better, just takes some time for them to flourish as they are here for like 2 yrs only.

Hi 96400, since school starts just more than a mth, I hv not much to share on Chinese. Think they don't hv it as much as like Sis, Isf, Cis or Cais, but they group kids into 5 streamings and hv Chinese class everyday.
They emphasis more on English and Maths, their phonic program is v sound (even divide kids into different groups for phonic class based on their levels!), and maths is not easy, according to parents with kids of higher grades there. :)
