I had a schoolmate in college (in the USA) who play violin with his left hand.

She was a great violin player.

Yes, I'm left-handed. I'm going to learn violin with my little one together since I also have great interest in it. However, I'm afraid it's difficult for the teacher to teach me. Is the instrument all the same or I need to order a different set?

There are violins made for left handed violinists.  If you are getting one, make sure that the bass bar and sound post are set properly.

The problem is - left handed violinists may find themselves having fewer chances.  Just imagine having a left handed player in an orchestra.

Warrrren is right. There are violins made for left-handed players. Personally, I don't know much on this.   And as Warrrren said, the schoolmate I had plays solo.

Is't difficult for a right-handed teacher to teach a left-handed learner?

Do u think I've better try to learn by right hand first.
I can use right hand but just not very smooth. Actually I use right hand to write (forced by parents when I was young), and I can also use left hand to write automatically and without practice.

My girl is left handed also and at first I really want to let her play violin but after reading all your advice, I think it really difficult for her to learn violin (at least find a left-handed teacher is rather difficult).

Beside piano, any musical instrument can be played with two hands?

many instrument!!! Why not consider other woodwinds / brass / percussion!! Most of them required two hands!!

In fact, left-handed player got very difficult to learn violin, at least, I believe it's not easy to get a good left-hand violin. Yes, there were some in town, but not really much to choose.

I cannot agree.  As Auer and Fischer said it, "it's about the bow arm, stupid."  Bowing is a lot more difficult and important.

Agree with Warrrren.

If you just think using the bow is easy, probably you still don't realise what's a real open string mean.

I am doing very hard on the double stop with open-strings these day. Um...... Just practise open string have already spent up all my time.... a very difficult task and it seems that I could never reach my teacher' standard. SIGH...

Dear All

I called Yips and also the muscial office (HK Govt) and both of them told me that left handed people can learn violin and can use the same violin.

If you are interest in violin, I think we can still think of it.
