I amjust trying to state the fact that one have to extreme outstanding performancein one of the area (academic or non-academic area), if he is not a veryALL-Rounded candidate, before he can consider himself has a good chance in those collegeapplication. Since OP said his child is "只有好成績加辯論較強,但音樂體育沒有奬項", then I suggested if he is some kind of 壯元 (A*A*A* or 45). Then those ivy league or oxbridge are "willing" to accept you 'base on this extreme academic performance. But I did not say individual college MUST accept him. Hope you can understand the difference of English grammar.
Speaking about Ivy league admission, they are very unpredictable. Sometime Harvard accept you but not Cornell, or the opposite. Besides, UC Berkeley, Stanford or MIT are not Ivy, but they are very top college.
