The point is, we should not just look at the total number of places vs total number of applicants and deduce the chances from there, as I said, different applicants may enjoy different priorities, and furthermore, different schools receive different number of applicants because of their catchment zones, some are in higher demand than others.
That is why we often see a wide range of perceptions and comments in this forum, some say it is difficult to gain admission, some say it is a piece of cake. If your child has no priority and you're in a competitive catchment zone, it can be damn difficult, but like someone has already said, if you rent a home on The Peak then it will become easier. |
