Music Office or HKAPA courses - Wind instruments

I would like to seek those experts' and parents' advices/experiences here.  

Do you think get the kids to learn wind instruments at Music Office or HKAPA better than a personal tutor?  Are those courses more systematic?

Is it very difficult to get a seat in Music Office and HKAPA courses?

Much appreciated if you could share your advices and experiences.  Thank you.

Yes. Because actually I have no idea on music.....so I am not sure his tutor is good or not, or is his progress ok or not.

My son follow this tutor around 1 year, just finished the book "A New Tune A Day for Clarinet - Book 1".  When I see the syllabus of Music Office E-1 class which is for Beginner, the syllabus is quite long.  Except the book "A New Tune A Day", there are more to be learned.  So I think are these courses more systematic?  Should I get him to apply the I-1 class in next year?....I have many queries....  And I also want to have more ideas for my little son as well.  That's why I would like to get more information and others experiences here.  Thank you.

My son started in Sep last year when he was seven.  One lesson per week with 45 minutes.  He practices around 5 days a week in around 20-30 minutes at home.  He hasn't learned music before (only music class in school).

His tutor told me his big problem is he always cannot get the beat (拍子) accurate especially half beat.  And his reading is not quick enough.

學樂器主要是看老師的功力、主力仍是在私人課。
就是在那兒教的老師都會收私人學生的,apa收生人數不多自然競爭,有心不妨嘗試報考!

孩子才7歲, 有心就不妨去試、唔試唔知!
也許設法先找裏面心儀的老師!


數拍子、Sight reading是孩子的弱點、孩子沒學鋼琴吧!

It really depenDS on the fate. my friend doesn't really play very well. He started learning instrument in school group class in p1. He was picked in school band/orchestra in p2. In p4, he was selected music office children/junior ensemble training. In p5, he was admitted Apa junior programme.

So, learning from group class is not bad. Of course, he was switched to private clasd some times ago.
