I will be a TY kinder parent but with no siblings in ESF. Which of BHS and KJS will be easier to get in assuming i can move my home by the time of application for Y1?

I guess these 2 have similar amount of applications and you do have priority with esf kindy.  I would pick the one I like to apply if I was in your situation .

This is my personal opinion only so please take it as internet hearsay rather than any kind of solid advice.

ESF has 5 primary schools on HK Island but only 4 covering the vastness of Kowloon and NT. This distribution of schools was perhaps appropriate years ago when ESF was mainly accepting expat children and these children tend to reside on the island side, but now that ESF is accepting more local children that distribution probably no longer coincides with demand.

So if you want to better your child's chances by moving, may be you should consider moving to the island side. The MTR ride from Central to Tsing Yi only takes 15 minutes and the kindergarten is right next to the MTR station, so HK island is not as far as it sounds.

Thanks. But I am also concerned about the no of siblings and number of ESF kinder students under each schools catchment area. Do you know from past experience which of the 2 school is more likely to not granting interview chance to Esf kinder students?

Thanks. Which Esf primary on the HK side would be easier you think?
Also, I know the Esf primary school will visit the kinder and the students from same school will be under same group in interview. Also I imagine the Ty kinder principal will have better working relationship with BHS KJS & SJS. If I apply for HK side primary, how this work, do you know there are lots of precedent cases?

I cannot say which particular ESF primary school on HK island would be easier, but overall they should be slightly easier than those in Kowloon and NT because of the uneven distribution.

If you assume this forum is a good random sample of local HK families applying to international schools, then take note of those ESF primary schools that are most discussed here, namely KJS and SJS, these are likely to be in higher demand hence more difficult than the others. Likewise those that are mentioned less are probably in less demand, e.g. Peak School, Kennedy School, and CWBS.

> If I apply for HK side primary, how this work

You already know ESF primary schools go by catchment zones, so if you want to apply to a particular school, you just move to the school's zone or "borrow" an appropriate address somehow.

My kid was applied ESF primary for year 1 by late submission and my kid is not study at their kinder and from overseas, i called every ESF primary schools except CWB and Glenealy, KJS & BHS, they both have 60-70 on waiting list, SJS over 100 on waiting list, Kennedy Sch also has 60-70 on waiting list while Peak can accept application and offer interview immediately. Bradbury also has 8-10 on waiting.

Hope the info. can help. I asked them in last Aug when we planned to return back to HK.

Hong0706. I found this is a new requirement from esf site.
• Two proof of HK address documents - a stamped copy of tenancy or purchase agreement plus a utility bill or bank statement....
Don't think they asked for this detail on the address proof before

My 2 cents, Quarry Bay school seems to be the easiest to get in.

Thanks!

We applied in last Aug, they accepted our application with utility bill only, and didnt request for any more proof.

How if the apartment is bought by our family, but not in parents' name, and we live together nei? I think it can be negotiable.

We'll, I didn't think of your question. I had called them to see what if my apartment is under a company name and they did ask for everything to prove that u own that company such as land search, annual return with the parent as the owner/ director .

What makes you think that way?My boy just graduated from QBS, many of his fellow students  have to wait for years before being admitted because of the long waiting list.
