想請教大家, 如果小朋友數理强, 不喜歡文科,寫作, 是否讀des 或a level較好?

I think so. You need to write a lot of essays in IB. Language is very important.

Further Mathematics HL 講明係 "designed for students with a high degree of competence and interest in mathematics, and who intend to study mathematics at university, either as a subject in its own right or as a major component of a related subject.". 係就係有18％考生攞7分, 不過2014年只有149人考. 我講嗰4科, 最少考生係Geography HL, 都有4千幾人. 最多係 History HL, 有3萬7千幾人. 㨂d百幾人考嘅科目比較, 無嘜意思喎.

請DSE的4科主科都有3科是文科，可能讀AL好些，可只讀兩科語文，其他都選數理科。但在職場，做到高級的仍是要靠寫作，例如做工程師，考註冊試都變成「文」科，所以與其逃避，不如及早面對。

Congratulations: LPCUWC Class of 2015 on the IB Diploma Results

Li Po Chun United World College of Hong Kong has received the provisional results for the IB Diploma for those students that graduated this academic year. Of the 130 eligible candidates for the IB Diploma, 33% received 40 or more points (this compares to the world average of 6.7% in May 2014). The College had 1 student that scored 44 points and 8 students with 43 points.

These excellent results should be put in a context of UWC students completing so much more than the IB Diploma. The wider UWC experience of the UWC educational model places academic excellence as only one part of the development of young people. Li Po Chun United World College students this year have also excelled in terms of the work they have undertaken in service, outdoor education or in their personal development.

The College would like to congratulate all graduates this year for their success in terms of fulfilling the mission and values of UWC putting at the heart the mission of “peace and a sustainable future"

I was talking about the comparison made as to how many students getting 45 in various schools. Obviously, if you can't get 7 in each of the 6 subjects, there is no chance of getting 45. Hence, my reference to the % of students getting 7 in each subject. If you like, I am gauging how difficult it is to get 45 by looking at the % of students getting 7 in different subjects. So if we compare 2 students both getting 45, on the face of it they both do equally well. However, I would argue that the one taking Biology HL and History HL is a lot harder than the one taking Physics HL and Geography HL. By the same token, when we compare the average score of each school, the likelihood of the students getting a high score in the individual subjects also makes a big difference. Taking Geography HL as an example, the total % of students getting 5, 6 or 7 is 75%. In History HL, however, the total % of students getting 5, 6 or 7 is only 43%. If you compare a school having the majority of its students taking Geography HL and similar "not-as-hard" subjects, its average score is likely to be higher than that of a school having the majority of its students taking History HL and similar "harder" subjects. Of course, we have to take into account all the other subjects taken as well. However, my point is that we just can't take the average score or the perfect score of 45 at its face value. Some are in fact harder to attain than others.
