Actually I heard a lot of the senior students left GSIS coz they are not too confident in the IB exam themselves. A lot of them will rather go overseas instead.

I compare RC and ESF schools and cited the tuition fee for RC is higher than ESF Schools due to the following:
1. a lot of parents I know chose RC than ESF Schools. If the tuition is higher but results not better, why? (RC offers traditional Chinese is one of the reasons I know)
2. Given RC is a relatively new school but parents have confidence on it, why in particular?

* I don't mean tuition fee higher = should have better scores

Of course my understanding is limited and my IS friends group is very small! I also know a mom whose girl got 44 marks in RC this year.

When choosing schools (both LS or IS), making reference to the past results is fair, right? Apart from this, I know other references should also be taken into account...

My kids will soon need to choose between RC and ESF Schools (plural, as I can move to fit the catchment zone for a better school), I am dying for statistics/experience/comments to help me make the decision......

Sorry, a new IS mom who is trying to learn here ^^

Some questions wish any experienced mom/dad could help:
1. I see Shatin C/KGV is not IB only, are the schools selective when choosing students to take IB? Or students can make the decision by themselves?

2. RC has 43% of bilingual dip. but Shatin C/KGV has very low %, what's the implication?

3. Would it help more for university admission both locally and internationally by obtaining a bilingual dip.?

首先要讚一讚HKTHK為我們準備這個表, 令大家能夠清楚看到各學校的表現. 但當大家比較各學校的成績時(例如平均分是幾多, 有幾多人攞滿分.......), 大學切勿忘記因為各人選科不同, 好多時不能直接比較分數. 以去年的成績做例子, 有13%考生在Physics HL 攞7分, 而在Biology HL 攞7分的只有5％. 同樣地, 有15%考生在Geography HL 攞7分, 但在History HL 攞7分的只有2％. History HL 的考生人數更是Geography HL 的幾倍. 好明顯有d科目係比較難攞高分. IB科目嘅組合千變萬化, 只比較分數高低未必適合.

RC學費高過ESF我相信兩個原因：1. RC 是私立學校無政府資助，ESF日後無政府資助學費會加23％或以上；2. RC 初中行MYP，費用是會高過行GCSE的ESF。假設RC大部分取bilingual diploma 學生是讀英文和中文as first language, 比例高過ESF是正常現象，因私立學校要收70％ local students, RC 中文較強亦是它賣點。至於bilingual diploma有無特別優勢？暫時無，英國和香港大學始終看重總分和subject choice

Don't forget that there is no such thing as BTEC at RC. RC's average would have been higher (probably higher than ESF overall) if BTEC were an option to the academically less able RC students.
