Suggest you to post in Hong Kong Schools FB group. Very small class and probably the majority are not Cantonese speakers. Hard to get a reply here.

我吾係用家，不過在興趣班，聽過兩個外籍媽媽交流對Harbour School的意見。學校非常有愛心，小班和優質教學，但學校在商場裡，環境不好，學費亦吾平。

不過學校最近投到建新校舍，情況吾同。

The school has won a site at Ap Lei Chau and is beginning to use it for their Grade 4 - 8 students this year.

Pre-K to Grade 3 are still at the Kennedy Town commercial building site.

You should book a school tour to visit the school; they are very welcoming and open to answering your questions. You will also be able to get a first hand understanding of the teachers and their principles which is important. You can see they are very passionate about their mission and really take control over the teaching methods/system.

However, the school is quite small and they do not have expansion plans so getting in will also be hard. At least no 'interview' process for the students.

It is an international school and their fees are comparable to some of the big name IS in Hong Kong. Be clear about your financial capacity before applying.

My son was finally started his year 4 this year!

All you told about this school is correct, my son loves it so much though he is still trying hard to get adapted in the English environment coz very rare Cantonese speaking students could be found there.  Indeed it's what we are looking for!

Teachers are caring and know my son very well just in a month! Maybe it's because there is maximum 14 students in a class taken care by 2 class teachers. They have relevant experience and academic background.

The Harbour school's new campus has been confirmed to be in use in Sept 2016!

We made the right choice and I won't hesitate to recommend this school yo the others! 😊

Where will their new campus be?  And is this school cater for children requiring special needs?

The new campus will be located at Ap Lei Chau. They provide very good SNE resources. In their website, the allocation is 50% mainstream, 20-30% gifted, 10-20% minor special needed child.
But all the children I met at THS are happy and normal.

Is it very hard to get in ？ Do they have long waitong list ？ Any assessment  or interview ？

They have interview but don't know what is the acceptance requirement instead of academical assessment. A special and caring IS!

THS only have class up to Gr 8, which schools do the students normally go after Gr8?

My friend's daughter was just got into G7, need to ask if still having vacancy for G8. I think now it's not difficult to get in only there is still vacancy but demand is expected to be much higher when it is known new campus and high school will be opened in Sep 2016.
I heard from some people saying that the waiting list starts to be long for kindergarten admission.

Never heard of this Harbour School.  Where is it?  I think lately there are a lot of new not so well known International Schools, International School makes good money.  You need to be selective and ask around your friends for more information.

This is not a new school but established in 2007.  This school has been expanding slowly due to small class size (1:7), no high school and focusing on children development instead of making profit.

Hi OpheliaMama! I'm going to apply THS. I like the philosophy of this school very much but I just wonder where the academic level is. Is it about the same as other ISs? I'm not academic-oriented but you know our kids still need to get a job (and university) at the end so I just want to make sure that their academics won't be too bad.
As I observed from their website and FB, it seems that they focus a lot on artistic and scientific learning, right? I see a lot of activities (really a lot, almost all kinds of activities that you can name them). So would that mean they have little time to spend on the textbooks or they integrated most of the knowledge into the activities? How about traditional subjects like language and history, how do they handle them?

you may consider writing to them and asking for a school tour during which you can raise your concern. an on-site observation may even tell a lot more.
