I suppose this is all the so-called "Exam English". Knowing how to read ORT books does not mean they understand the story lines in them.  My boy could also read up to Stage 8 by himself in K2 (he could read it aloud to us) but oftentimes he didn't understand the story lines.  English is all taught by NETs (British, American or Aussie) in his kindy and the teachers also actually do not recommend kids to read too ahead.  Reading should be age-appropriate.

And knowing how to read does not equal to knowing how to spell properly.  Learning how to use phonics does not guarantee a perfect spelling.  E.g. my boy might write in his journals something like "I want to buy a weesal (whistle)", or "I will get the luggech (luggage)". The teachers will never say he is wrong (as what they focus on is not perfect spelling at this stage, but rather, whether the sounds are right).  

My boy was rated by his kindy English teachers as having advanced English skills but this is not to say that he could spell all words without some drilling.

This might be a more balanced view for moms to draw reference to, I hope.

To supplement, my nephews are born to a British father and live in the UK.  Didn't reckon that they ever drill in the Cambridge exams, not to mention write long sentences when they are in nursery (they did not, I am sure).

K3 睇9-11歲的英文書,
我不知道你指的是什麼英文書,
不過如果5歲人仔睇 9-11歲的書,
我會覺得不是一件好事,
因為個小朋友心智會好快成熟,
又或者睇到d野係跟佢心智發展唔配合,
令佢會有困擾.

呢個小朋友到9-11歲又會睇咩書呢?
唔通睇年青人的情情搭搭小說?!

不一定要追上去，只係佢能選擇的書比同齡孩子多很多。

沒有，只是練習starters和movers口語時會全英文

考到滿分的，真係大有人在，但無去考的仲多人。我覺得一分耕耘一分收穫，小朋友的時間點樣用，用在邊，全由家長決定。覺得呢樣野重要的，去準備去做。否則，做d其他野囉。
