The point is, if there are no plans to leave HK, then one ought to consider what kind of HK our children will face in the not too distant future.
If I remember right, you have a child in a ESF primary school. And I felt you have always wanted your child to be in an ESF school. So, what do you think your child's position as a citizen in Hong Kong in the future?
Obviously ESF is an international school, and does not have strong Chinese programs like ISF of Yew Chung. Do you think your child will suffer because of that?
Of course, you probably have other plans for your child. You probably would send him the UK for sixth form and then stay there for university, and probably expected him to simply stay in the UK to work.
However, you never know when he might be sent back to Hong Kong or China or any Asian countries actually by his company.
Do you think your decision to put him in ESF is actually not as ideal, if he would one day have to work in Hong Kong?
Not trying to challenge you but you do not sound as optimistic or confident as before. What has happened? Have you experienced something that make you less so sure?
Talking about planning.....
One of my uncles went to the US for university and never came back (only may be once in 3-4 years). His 2 sons were born in the US and now they are in their 30s. His young son came to Hong Kong just about half a year ago collaborating with a huge local company, stayed here for 3 months. His older son will soon be coming to Hong Kong as he was sent by the company to work here, will stay for at least 2 years.
Sometimes, we just really cannot plan. We have to move along the road to a place where there is food.
