Reason for Assessment

would anyone tell me for what reasons you take your son/daughter for assessment in the first place:

Would it be:
1) you notice the kids have developement delay yourself; or
2) per your kids' nursery/kindergarten teachers advice; or
3) per your kids doctor advice

I am thinking of taking my younger son for assessment, but both his doctor and nursery think although he is speech delay, it is not alarming. But as my elder son is Asperger, I may be somewhat over-sensitive. Any advice, anyone?

I agree with stellacl that whenever there is a doubt, consult the professionals.

As your elder child is diagnosed Asperger, your second child has a higher risk (than other children) of having PDD as well as language delay.  Thus, for the peace of mind, please bring him for an assessment if you think there are something he does that worry you.

Should there is a need for training, it is always better to start earlier.
