Among Tara Anglican School for girls, Pymbles Ladies College, PLC Sydney, which one is suitable for a 11 student with average academic performance from HK?

Many thanks.

I am a graduate of Pymble. And I knew of people who attended Tara and PLC Sydney.

If you do not require boarding and I noted you have AU citizenship. I don't suggest Tara as it is an averaging performing school for that price I would choose other schools.

Pymble is academically orientated but not overly competitive, it is more competitive at a selective high school where 70-90% are asians. Pymble has a very strong sports and music program, and of course the academic program. But the year I graduated in 2002, we had 230 in our grade it was very large and I do kind of think a smaller school is better if your child is not academically orientated. I would suggest abbotsleigh; better value for Loreto Normanhurst (Northern Sydney) or Loreto Kirribilli (Lower North Shore)  provided you are catholic. Sceggs Darlinghurst is expensive but has great reputation and parents like it lots. If you want IB look at Sceggs Redlands too, my friend who went loved it.

Check out the rankings : http://bettereducation.com.au/results/hsc.aspx

Pymble was a very good school when I graduated, we were ranked in top 10. But in 2014 only ranked 26. Pymble is located in the north shore which is more traditional; and more middle class with better safety etc. PLC Sydney is in Sydney's west and Tara at Parramatta in Sydney's west too. I would say you get a much better network of lawyers, doctors, financiers by going to a lower or upper north shore school or a eastern suburb school, if location isn't an issue I wouldn't choose outside of those suburbs.
