新手RC想問問現任RC家長

我很想兒子考入RC，有以下問題請教大家。

1) YEAR 5 的功課會多嗎?
2) RC上堂方式跟本地學校有什麼分別?
3) RC學生多數是香港人，他們說廣東話的情況多嗎?
4) YEAR 5 打後會多插班位嗎?
5) 老師質素如何? 會關心學生嗎?
6) 你們的孩子喜歡這所學校嗎?

1) YEAR 5 的功課會多嗎?
- 不多but they would have a lot class work.
2) RC上堂方式跟本地學校有什麼分別?
- big difference, it's an int'l school anyway.
3) RC學生多數是香港人，他們說廣東話的情況多嗎?
- depends but primary students mostly speak English at playground.
4) YEAR 5 打後會多插班位嗎?
- not many in Year 5 & 6, but more vacancy in Year 7
5) 老師質素如何? 會關心學生嗎?
- depends, 人夾人緣, my son likes his teachers
6) 你們的孩子喜歡這所學校嗎?
- of course and my son loves this school

不用真的全黑， but main colour has to be black. Logos can be of other colour. My son has had a few black Nike's and Adidas' during the past few years. He always chose logos or strings with grey earthy colours, and avoid neons. My son is in secondary and he said it is actually stricter in secondary.

Kids have only less than a year to actually pick up a new insteument and thus teachers would assign an instruments according to what they believe to best suit a child. My child was assigned a trumpet at that time and his best friend a trombone. This was the most fun part of PYP according ro my son as by end of the year, they all played so well.

So we need to buy an instrument? Or can we rent it from school?

School will let you keep the instrument in year 6.

I think they're not strict at all when it comes to shoes.  My son started off with black trainers at the beginning of year 1.  He grew out of them and I got him a pair of brown shoes, boot style (since they were on sale) and the school said nothing.  
PE trainers can be in any colour I think.

硬要同本地課程比較有咩意義？叫你將橙同萍果比，又会有咩结論？
若你对現在local school不甚滿意，考得入RC你一定唔會後悔。

你不是説心儀這學校嗎？但你重複這些問題是因為沒有信心還是等待其他家長回答？其實RC家長就只有Artie和我在這比較活躍，他的孩子較大、我的將會升Y7, 希望能解除你的疑慮。

1你們認為RC是一所好學校嗎?
It's suitable to my son.

2如GRADE 5的話中文是簡體字嗎?
如是Pathway 3 / 2是學繁體，pathway 1 學簡體。

英文/maths的功課比起本地有什麼不同?
不知道，但英文寫作要求在Y5已經相當高，narrative writing & argumentative/report writing都已掌握。

Maths不算難。

3學校的pe課是學什麼?
PE 有幾個單元：swimming, track and field, ball games, movement(gymnastics), games and etc.

4孩子可以享受學習嗎?
My son enjoys reading, doing Maths, playing music & sports. 唯一不喜歡是中文。

多謝你不厭其煩地答我地問題，請問swimming由 year 1開始已有嗎？我正想找泳會讓兒子學游水，如果PE課已有，就不用找了。

女兒在Anfield 讀K1, 非常心儀RC,其中一個原因是因為中文是繁體字。請問如果想入pathway2/3, 入year 1的中文要有什麼水平? 會考普通話口語嗎？

每學年都有游泳課（約十堂，唔多記得），教練會就住小朋友的程度分組，因為有些小孩已能游若干泳式，有些是完全唔識。我諗家長不會期望小朋友能在十堂之内學會1個半個泳式。

我覺得家長在上學校泳堂之前先令小朋友唔怕水較為重要。另外，照顧者要到學校幫小朋友沖身換衫，所以訓練小朋友動作快及get rid of 姿整行為，戒公主王子行為会幫助小朋友順利上堂落堂

不懂游水的香港學生較少，只有叻與游得無咁叻的分別；year 1上游水堂好少見小朋友驚，因為有一大班同學一齊玩，無壓力。不懂游泳的可在入學後慢慢學，year 3 左右可join swimming club, 操水游比賽, 甚至參加兩項小鉄人。

我們以前Year 1 入學不會考中文/普通話的；開學後中文老師會和他們做評核就自動分班了。

中文順其自然吧，有些家長會私補、有些上陸陳漢語、公文中文、直映中文，睇你要求了。

我仔無補習，勉強在pathway 3。
