YWC doesn't disclose much of its DSE results information to the public. From its 2013/14 School Report, it mentions that the number of 5 or above in English language is 27.7%. It is probably a Band 1B / 1C result.
It is hard to tell whether the quality of its S1 intake will improve after its feeder primary YWPS changed to a DSS school because: -
1. YWPS is a very popular primary school and attracts a lot of bright students. However, many top YWPS graduates can get offers from other Band 1A schools like SPCC and DBS. Therefore, it is difficult for YWC to retain the best students from its feeder school;
2. Assuming YWPS has 70% Band 1 students, there are still 30% Band 2/3 students. Under the DSS thru train arrangement, YWC need to take over these Band 2/3 students as long as they pass the minimum requirements;
3. Not many Band 1A students from other primary schools will accept the offer from YWC as they need to give up the chance of entering top subsidized / government schools like LS and QC; and
4. YWC is very aggressive in inter-school sport competition. Every year, it gives some quota for those sport talents who may not be Band 1 in academic.
