For the ESF kindergarten students with no priorities to ESF primary schools, will parents normally purchase nomination right for admission, or still a fair chance to get in just by interview?

Two inaccuracies ...
(1) ESF kindergarten pupils do have interview priority to ESF primary schools.

(2) Nomination Right is for interview, not for admission, the child still has to pass the interview but if he/she fails you'll get your money back.

Understood the two points before...just in fact wonder the cost effectiveness of buying that nomination right or if it basically gives equal chance for those attending the interview. But I guess no one can tell unless one works at the school knowing the exact process.  Cheers.

I heard that during interview the teachers don't know who got there by buying nomination right to ensure fairness to all applicants, how true that is I don't know. Whether nomination right is cost effective depends on whether your child would get an interview otherwise. For ESF kindergarten pupils they won't buy unless they don't get an interview, which can happen sometimes. Bottom line is, you'll get your money back and the cost will be zero if your child fails the interview, so you could apply normally and if you don't get an interview then decide whether to buy, the risk is nomination rights might be sold out by that time.

I think FattyDaddy's reply was quite clear.
What do you want to know in terms of the exact process?
It is definitely effective if you want to get an interview for sure.
But it does not buy you the actual admission ticket.
The determining thing would be whether a kid can pass the interview.

I personally know many ESF kids that did not pay the NR.
To be honest, there are a lot fewer people that paid NR than many people want to believe.

I heard of at least 3 cases where kids with INR got rejected. So I guess just buy you interview priority

We're in NR queue for our elder one for one year already, no message yet. They're not keen in contacting us for the process.
Now our younger one got admitted to ESF kindergarten, I think I don't bother to buy NR anymore. Hopefully when the younger one goes to the primary, the elder one can go to the siblig priority queue.

I suggested to paid more attention to improve the english conversation with your kids rather than the NR
Actually the interview is running around 45 minutes

If you are aim at the esf primary, try to get the priority from the esf kinder.

In my understanding, all the Nomination rights payee will focusing on the new building school.

If you are not willing to pay the Nomination rights, you could try the PIS one , like the RC and DC

My son got a place for 2015 Aug K1. Just checked from the website that there will be no longer a priority for a primary interview starting his year……

And I just saw that the INR gains priority for admission (not interview). This is kind of confusing.

Read carefully, "The new policy will be effective from August 2013 for entry into ESF schools in August 2014", that was when ESF planned to remove the kindergarten priority but subsequently reinstated it. Old news is sometimes exciting, but ESF should have removed these obsolete webpages :)

"16. The offer of a place will be conditional on passing the English proficiency test/interview held at the school. The final decision whether to offer a place rests with the school."

It seems people are always looking for a way to just buy a place, how nice it would be if life is so simple :D

Yep sibling priority counts.

I know 2 cases that students are rejected even with NR. So I guess Esf really has a fair interview system.

Are you sure that the older one can enjoy sibling priority once the younger one is in ESF? I heard that only younger ones can use the sibling priority, not the reversed order. Have you ever checked with ESF office about it?

I called the admin office, and their answer is Yes.
My younger one will start ESF kindergarten in this Aug. But the sibling priority for my elder one can't be used until my younger one joins ESF primary.

My elder one has been in waiting queue for 2 years, and admin tells me she's in top 10 for her year group. I guess she may have high chance of interview even before the sibling priority is valid.
