My daughter has got offer from Warwick and Bristol to study LLB in UK. She is likely to return to HK for career. Anybody in the legal field can offer advice as to which one is better for career prospect in HK?
As the others comment here, the rankings of the two universities are neck to neck. While Warwick is an up and coming university and is one of hongkongers' favourite schools, Bristol traditionally is one of those uuniversities for oxbridge rejects. The student profiles are somewhat different.
It is very difficult for an overseas law graduate to get a PCLL place from a local university.
Two years ago, my cousin graduated from Warwick with a second upper honor degree and an international firm training contract on hand. He could only manage to get a PCLL offer in the very last minute.
Most of the local PCLL places would be reserved for local LLB and JD graduates. The places available to overseas graduates are very limited.
I saw that the ranking of Warwick has dropped but is it still a good choice for studying law? Since I am deciding on UCAS choices I hope to get more info about UK law schools thx
I would say Warwick is still a highly respected law school in UK after Oxbridge, LSE and maybe UCL. It is generally felt on par with Durham and Bristol. I know a friend working in an reputable international law firm in HK. Her comment is that they tend to recruit UK than HK graduates. Warwick is one of the target university for internship.
