How's your child's interview with SIS? I was told there were questions about shapes and colors. That's all my 3 year old child could tell.

In the past few years, shapes and colors were a 'must-test' and a bit more than that would be using shapes and colors as the basics for tests of logical thinking....for example, they would be shown the squence of:
a square, a triangle, a circle, a square, a triangle, _____
and asked: what's next?

How competitive it is for non Singaporean to get in? When will the result be released? Thx

Comparatively speaking, for non-Sing, entry at PY1 shall be the 'easiest'....
From our observations in the past few years, the rough 'guesstimate' for non-Sing would be around 20-30 seats out of the total 100 seats.

The school has never announced the total number of applications for each year, so, I would rather not make any guesstimation on these figures lest it would deviate substantially from the actual ones.

My girl can't tell much either.. She said she was asked to count 1-10, name the shapes, and interviewed in both mandarin and english.

I believe it gets harder when they are older. I heard for a 4 year old (for py2 interview perhaps?) they expected the child to be able to read in both English and Chinese.

since the languages of instructions in PY1  are English & Putonghua, the kids could hardly 'survive' in PY2 if they are not proficient in the two languages..

My boy could not tell much either.  He vaguely mentioned about cutting vege in the kitchen, playing with car on the track, shapes, etc.  He too mentioned about speaking English and Putonghua.  The contents do not seem difficult for this age.  I believe the teachers will have their way to assess the kids, just that most kids are probably not capable of conveying the details yet.

True. 真是強中自有強有手。It's beyond question, you would expect the standard of English and Mathematics is very high for the school.  What's even more impressive is the standard of Chinese/PTH of my son's classmates……be they Koreans/Australians, their standard is not inferior to the Chinese kids'. I always have this question in my mind: "How do they do that?"

學校的雙語課程、教學和語境，是非常好。
另一樣是，初小無考試，日常功課很少，小朋友有很多時間看書和玩耍。

有說SIS是IS裏算谷的，但和local名小比，仍是天堂。

小一沒有考試, 小二開始, 中,英, 數三科都有 Year end exam!
不過大部分小朋友都輕鬆應付到, 沒什麼大壓力! 高年班就未知

不是小二都沒有考試，由小三開始嗎？
其實高小開始到中學，有要求或想成績好的，係邊間IS都無得話hea讀。

IS的好處是少d消磨人心志的無聊功課，對小朋友學習興趣的干擾較小。即使有測驗，都係志在check住小朋友進度，吾係話教淺考深玩你，亦無話要分高下。

學校的課程其實吾算深，派回家看的圖書亦很簡單，我小朋友本身學術超前很多，但吾知道係老師功力，定係個語言、學習環境，我覺得她很是學到很多，中英文在寫作和表達都有長進。
另外，學校的課程編排好有心思，除日日有中英數外，還有art，dance，drama，cultural appreciation，science等，體育堂之餘，亦有游泳堂，做到全人發展。我好感恩小朋友在一個好好的環境學習，學校每天為她增值。

為咗平衡吓，吾好只講好事，作為奄尖家長，學校都有可以改善的地方，暫時想到兩樣，（1）小學無法文等外文選讀，和（2）運動吾係超強，無特別栽培小朋友的program等等...

不過這些並非人人追求，亦吾係其他IS就比到你，想要亦可以自己幫小朋友安排。在此並非抱怨，只是提供多方面看法，畢竟成日讚自己小朋友間學校，好吾好意思的
