文科人，target UK, US or HK universities, IB Maths 應take standard or Maths studies ? Take Maths studies 可拉高IB總分，但會否失印象分？

我試下答啦，英國/香港：假設你已查過心儀科目無要求Math HL/SL, take Math Studies 可拉高總分，兩地大學看重lB 總分，差兩三分分別好大；美國完全兩個世界，大學用holistic approach, 看9年級及之後成績，是否勇於挑戰困難，有無領導才能，SAT 成績等，最後lB成績已無咁重要，如take Math Studies就唔似肯挑戰自己。學校advisors 有何建議？

學校advisor 要等睇多幾次test成績，11月要決定，一定不會選HL，本身冇乜數學頭腦，但靠補吓習平時都有A，聽講IB Maths SL 都唔容易，所以唔想博

There are no hard and fast rules. It all depends on the student, the universities and the degrees in mind. General comments may not be useful to you.

Choosing Math Studies would limit the choices of programs. Some US universities are very secretive with their admission requirements. You have to be very sure all programs you are interested do not require at least a Math SL. I know this is very tempting. But please note that a lot of US universities do not consider Math Studies to be high school math course. So I suggest choosing Math SL first and see how it goes. It is easy to move from Math SL down to Math Studies.
