just applied ESF, but I got an email saying " our child's application will be placed on the school of zone waiting list. The Admissions Office at the school of zone will contact you for admissions assessment when there is a place available for your child."
does everyone gets the same message, just don't understand why the application is put on waiting list without any evaluation.
Don't worry, every single application is placed initially on the wait list, and then they will process the list according to the priority categories, and within each category the random number drawn against each application.
Are you applying for Year 1? Only Year 1 (or Year 7) goes through central allocation as everyone is entering at the same time. If you are applying for any other year group, you will be on waitlist as all ESF primary spaces are already filled and you will be need to wait for vacated seats.
There is no need to speculate, it is a standard template email reply to every Year 1 application submitted, the wording is identical to the one last year and I suspect it has been the same for quite some years.
