From what i understand, YCIS has a great early childhood and language programs. They believe in starting with the mother tongue, so kids in KG were taught in Canto first, then slowly adding English & Mando. They even plan starting English phonics and Putonghua phonics in different grades so that the kids can master one system before learning another. The primary program is so well designed that the smart YCIS primary kids end up in other top IS such as CIS by secondary, hence leaving much room for an influx of kids from other IS with poorer grades to 'transfer' to YCIS secondary, hence the great gap in student quality between YCIS primary & YCIS secondary.
HIHinsurance is also correct that there are more and more mainland intake into YCIS lately. Probably lots of queue jumping in the KG section as well. From what i heard YCIS is receiving lots of "donation" from mainland parents, and the school is becoming more and more commercial at all levels.... No longer a school recommended for parents with an International mindset, but still a great school for people looking to survive the Strong country takeover. |
