May I know if I can only apply the esf near my residential address? say I live in New Territories, am I eligible to apply the esf in kowloon side?

yes if u have address proof of a Kowloon or HK Island address (electricity, water, town gas...) but do not expect their will be school bus service to your real home in NT.
U may be asked to show this address proof on the interview day.

Not sure how it was done in your time, but these days they want to see originals of all the supporting documents submitted during application on the interview day. These include passports (child and parent), birth certificate (child), address proof, kindergarten report etc.

More or less the same.Actually, using other people's address (granny or relatives) does not give you extra advantages in application.
You can only apply one school in one catchment area.

BTW, It is interesting to hear that parents' passports are also needed. I could not figure it out such purpose.

I guess the purpose is, in case of foreigners, to check what kind of visa the parents are using to stay in HK, Incidentally, following is the list of supporting documents required for applications last year ...

□ Copy of completed ‘Online Application’ form or the Application slip/acknowledgement email;

□ Copy of application fee online payment result;

□ Copy of child’s school/kindergarten reports for the last two years;

□ Copy of child’s passport including the current visa status for Hong Kong;

□ Copy of parent’s passport including the current visa status in Hong Kong;

□ Copy of parent’s and child’s identity cards, if applicable as residing in Hong Kong;

□ Proof of HK address document -a personalized copy of lease or utilities bill (bank statements are not accepted);

□ A reference letter from your child’s current school (for applicants to Year 3 and above);

□ Copies of examination certificates/results (for secondary application);

□ Two recent photographs of the student.

□ Details of parent attendance at ESF primary/secondary school (if applicable).
