May I know which school your son had entered after graduated? Was it his 1st choice/band 1?

He entered to Wah Yan (1st choice). You cannot imagine how hard we studied in those day. If you want to enter the band I famous school. You must let them learn swimming, musical instrument, attend musice competition, speech competition, swimming competition, choir, school band, as much as you can. More certificates you got, more chances to enter band 1 school. No pain no gain. If your child is P.1, there is a long road to run. I am not scared you, it is truth.

Thanks for sharing. It looks scary.

A parent of Wan Yan told me that Wah Yan looked at academic result more than the extra-curricular activities.

Was it a condition in SFA that you must participate in so many activiites otherwise SFA would not recommend you to the top schools like Wan Yan?

And as far as I know, SFA's music performance is just so so and not many music elites are in SFA?? Thanks.

Hi S.O.S.

一,二年級重點溫習如下,
中文: 每課詞語要背黙及做句, 因為評估,考試是不供詞填充及有作句. 另外多看,多做一些閱讀理解, 重組句子練習.
英文: 主要溫習G.E.Note, H.W, G.W, Composition worksheet.
數學: 計算要小心, 應用題比較佔多分數, 可以買"學林應用題"做.
G.S.: 最好早d溫習, 因為多英文生字串, 我約考試前1個月每2天溫1課.
Literature:最好早d溫習, 要串生字及理解故事內容, 家長可想一些問題給小朋友做, 例如你喜歡哪個故事? 這個故事教導我們要什麼? 你覺得主角性格如何?(但考試佔分不多)
其實小朋友平時上堂留心, 功課自己識做, 應該不太困難(高年級不太清楚    ) 如有錯漏請多多指教!!!

The headmaster taught us to let the student try more activites. If you can win the prize in the inter-school swimming competition, speech-compeititon, sports, any public ocmpetition. Then there is no problemm to enter to DBS or DGS or other traditional famous school. If you apply DBS, you need to bring along with your musical instrument (violin, trombone, flute etc) to play to the interviewer. If the child is intellegent, there is no problem in studying like my son. If the child is just average like my daughter (stupid). She needs to study very hard. She got over 70 marks in all subjects, but she is the last 4 position in the class. How disappointed ! Student needs to student hard, the mother also need to study hard. That is why many famous schools like to get the students whose mum are housewifes.

還有作答時要好小心, 有些一年級小朋友會漏寫答案(我個仔係其中一個), 甚至成頁冇做(曾經聽到有2位家長個仔冇做…..) 另外一些漏標點, 唔記得改大楷,計數唔記得進位等等...(我個仔間中都有漏 )

我會讓仔仔自己帶飯(與現時一樣). 我個仔考插班果日, 我要返工, 係印尼工人帶佢去同埋响度等. 佢d鄉里同佢講, 話學校d飯好難食, 所以好多都係自己帶. 個工人同我講:『太太, 都係我起身煑定比bb帶返學, 唔好食出面d嘢啦!』我好感動呢! :  :

P.2時英文有一段文章提供, 然後有一些英文生字比你, 自己跟據有關文章再寫一段. 而中文就係有幾條問題再加一些生字, 然後自己串成一篇文章, 啊仔覺得中文作文難過英文作文.
P3.就不知道了..... 有冇家長可以提供?

請問你陪太子讀書讀到幾多歲, 幾多年班呢? 佢幾時可以自己溫習, 唔洗你叫呢? 我好担心陪到小學, 陪唔到中學!!!佢唔識自己溫書, 到中學點搞呀?

I am also intending to let my son bring along the lunch box as well.  I am try to find out the feasible lunch warmer now.  每天早上煮lunch box, 幸苦就幸苦D, 不過我唸吃自己cook的lunch總好過吃飯盒.  因我工人8月先到, 所以到時未有信心由她煮呢.

如果自己帶飯,可在11:30-12:00送到學校 ( 因我小朋友訂飯盒,故時間可能有少出入 ) , 或早上,小朋友自己帶回校.

但飯後,就要自己收好,放學帶回家.

Hi wendylimb,
Actually the children can study themselves; the school trains them very well. They will study in the recess even though nobody asks them to do so. But if the mother helps them, the result will be better. Once they enter to secondary, you need not to help them anymore. In secondary, project learning is more important than the test. In SFA, 2 dictations/week, 2 tests/month. But in secondary, 2 test/year, 2 exams/year. Though we study hard in SFA, when they in secondary, you will know that everything is worth. They must be smarter than everyone in most of the school. I can guarantee.
