The homework workload of Holy Family is OK, 5-7 pieces everyday, take 1 hour to finish. Dictation of Eng and Chinese once every week, one test and one exam every term (2 terms), just same workload as other local schools.  Not really too much.  How come it is too heavy?

The school has tutor class everyday in the afternoon to help the students to finish part of their homework.  So when they come back home, they don't need to take too long to finish all.  

In fact, workload of P.1 and P.2 in HFCS is not too much, it increases a lot in P.3.  But I think it is the same in other schools.  I heard that SFA, St. Mary's work is even heavier and more difficult.

I think no matter studying in which school, it is more important to train the kids to finish their work themselves as much as possible rather than waiting their mom to help them after work.  No need to  worry too much whether they have done all correctly, as they need to learn through mistakes and will improve.

小女現在讀小三,小一小二的功課其實平均來說,不算特別多.亦絕對不深(中文可能會比一般學校深少許,英數常都很淺,我覺得校方緊隨教統局範圍教書,而事實上很多學校會教超出指定範圍的課程,例如一年級教二年級的課程,三年級用四年級的書).

不過每天的導修堂其實只是有老師監堂,不會教做功課.課外活動就是安排在導修堂的時間,所以當日有活動,就沒有導修堂.

整體來說,學校是好學校,校長很好,老師大致都好,我女兒唸得很開心,她的同學大部分都很愉快.

很同意WYmom的看法,應該訓練小朋友自律,訓練自己處理功課和解決問題的能力,.是不是全職媽媽,都要讓小朋友自己學會承擔壓力和責任.為她好,不是為她擋去所有的風雨,而是讓她學會如何在風雨中屹然不倒.

What I've been thinking is to apply for p.2 of this school, since it has linked secondary school.  Her existing school is very tough and I don't want to push her so much.  Still a kid.
