Take the test first.  If your kid gets the qualifying grade for Grade 6-8, then talk to CTY staff.
One more point, you may have to take th SCAT-Advanced.

You should consider the English standard of your P1 kid.  Could he comprehend the scientific word/ideas/theory?

Take the SCAT first and then CTY would suggest your kid to take a placement test before course enrollment.
