I think ACT is more suitable for HK students.

Usually, the prestigious universities would require you to submit all the tests you took. You cannot make use of the suppress option to report the best scores only.

No one will take the SAT before Grade 11 unless some scholarship programs require the applicants to submit their SAT scores.

The best time to take SAT is May or June in Grade 11.

Statistics show that you will not improve your scores after you take 3 tests. Some experts explain that there is a scaling process on your score. During the scaling process, a certain number will be multiplied into your raw scores. No one knows the number, but the number may be 0.95 or 0.9 or any figure the Collegeboard may think fits in the scaling process. This is to reflect that you are not advantaged by your multiple takings of the tests.

Most good students would take SAT once, or twice at most.

沒有問題,其實應該咁做,因為由form 3開始成績會「留底」,但之前不會,很多人也這樣做當作試考

Nope. As far as I know only Stanford and Cornell require all scores to be sent. Most other schools welcome the student to provide either SAT or ACT scores, and many top schools also accept Score Choice.

Why you say so? What's your view?
A few advantages of the ACT:
- There is a much stronger focus on grammar (more comprehensively too, since it includes punctuation etc). HK students are normally educated in the use of language (grammar basically) which fits well with the requirements of the test, unlike SAT which has the infamous vocabs that most HK students (particularly local students) find difficult to handle.

- Math/sci and English split ratio is 50:50 compared to SAT's 67:33, science-oriented HK students may find this welcoming.

- Its math exam is significantly harder than SAT math component but HK students should have no problem pulling off a 34/35/36, which is as impressive as or if not more impressive than a 800 on SAT II Math, let alone SAT I.

- Personally, I like how the essay is scheduled at the end of the entire test rather than SAT, which kicks off with that. Considering some students may find it a daunting challenge, particularly I myself, was happier and more relaxed to write the essay after completing the MCs.

- It only has 4 (+1 writing) parts compared to the SAT's 10 parts, so students have longer time to complete each part, instead of SAT's 'round-after-round' style.

Converting my ACT score to my SAT score, I scored 250 points higher on the ACT than the SAT. I prepared for 2 days for the ACT, while I spent 2 months working intensively on my SAT. But still, a lot find the SAT easier to tackle too, so I would suggest one to try out mock tests of both SAT and ACT tests to see which is a better 'fit' for them. At the end of the day, ALL colleges in the state, as well as HKU/CUHK/HKUST view the SAT and ACT with equal treatment.

Sorry that I didn't apply to Stanford, but this is the information they provided: http://www.stanford.edu/dept/uga/pdf/AppGuideFreshman.pdf

Turns out that Stanford requires all scores for SAT or ACT, instead of SAT and ACT, so it's still not the 'strictest' school in terms of testing policies.

Most top 20 colleges or liberal art colleges would not allow the option to send the best scores. They require you to send all the SAT and SAT subjects test you had taken. If you take ACT, they would also require you to submit the scores of all ACT you had taken before.

That is not true, to list a few, Harvard, Princeton, Columbia, MIT, UChi and Duke are all fine with Score Choice.
On the extreme side, no college will ever know if an applicant elected to send all of his/her scores (or not). It's more of an honor code policy.
