Actually, i agree with Thomas' perspective. Asians in general are more results oriented and Europeans are more process oriented (I must say though, Americans are somewhere in between). It is a cultural difference, and the culture of each school does differ, in accordance to the teaching staff and the type of parents. (Yup, even within IS the spectrum is spectacular)

Note though, that mainland Chinese has this 'anything foreign is much better'  mentality, so the journalist who wrote that article may look at two simple contestants and elaborated a bit overboard.

唔關LS 同IS 體系事。只係中國式教養同外國式教養事。教養係父母長輩點教點養, 同埋國家灌輸啲咩思想俾下一代。香港LS 填鴨式教育, 兼內地教育政策入侵(只有服從國家領導, 沒有自己批判思考能力), 令香港家長不只卻步, 仲要逃難咁可以走得就走避得就避, 避走去IS 及移民。老實講, 有邊個會咁驚自己民族嘅教育。香港嘅教育官員如果為香港好係咪應該諗清楚要有獨立思考能力嘅下一輩定係唯唯諾諾嘅下一輩。為自己為屋企為民族, 相信大部份家長都會認為有批判思考能力嘅教養, which 係non-Chinese style 較為好。
