There was no VAT in my past experience shopping online (say, from Amazon, bookdepository, fishpond, thebookpeople ... etc.).

As I cannot tell when the law will be changed to impose it, please do check the final payment amount (that should be the sum of all shopped items plus delivery charge) before confirming the payment with your credit card or Paypal ... etc. If there is anything in doubt, please contact the shop's customer service before confirming the payment or cancel the placed order asap. Most online shops allow free cancellation before they really started working (say, packing and delivering) on the order. However, if the online shop is accepting your order on behalf of a third party seller, the situation may become more complicated.

No, the delivery charge is calculated per item. For light items, the Delivery charge is less.

When checking out the shopping cart, the delivery charge will be calculated. At that point, you can consider and proceed payment only if you are happy with the deal.

No, for example, if u purchase a box set of roald Dahl. The cost is GBP15.99 plus GBP 13.5 delivery charge.

Note that a box set is counted as one item. However, it will be counted as 15 items if you order the 15 books separately.
