Buying Nomination Right guarantees an interview, but not a place, the child still has to pass the interview.

I heard hear-say that during interview the teachers do not know which child got there via NR, to ensure fairness to all.

HelloNBaby, we share exactly the same problem here. I am still inclined to send my son to ESF kg. Reason: ok, we buy the idea of IS education or even ESF education philosphy. If not taking the esf kg offer, what will be the other better choices? We still need to face the "no gurantee interview to esf primary" in 2 years time if we go to some other kg at this stage right?

Or you can consider to find a job at ESF
They have vacancies now like educational assistant, admin staff and even principal

Other consideration is: ok, I send my son to esf kg! He also had a chance for interview! But if, at that time, his English level doesn't qualify the esf primary or other IS, what I can do?! He can't get back to LS K3 since his English and math is behind local foundation, but on the other side, he can't get any IS! I really nothing can do right?

True too. But if 2 years from now, the kid lags behind in a language and is still not able to catch up the english standard for ESF or other IS, he may be even worse to survive in a LS system (where he/she may need not only to catch up with a language but so so so many other subjects).... well, only my view.

Correct! If your target is ESF Primary schools 2 years down the road, ESF kindergarten is still the obvious choice. Yes there will be no guarantee, in fact there is no guarantee even now, and yes there will be no priority, but ESF kindergartens have been feeder schools for ESF Primary schools for so many years that they will continue to enjoy a close working relationship with the primary schools.

So the rationale is simple, if the target is ESF Primary schools, would attending a non-ESF kindergarten give your child a better chance? If the target is not ESF Primary schools, then why bother with ESF kindergartens in the first place?

I took the ESF offer (just signed the cheque for the debenture today), and gave up SC eng putonghua offer. From other posts, seems that your kid is offered ESF WKS (others other think and boxhill right?).
My son got ESF WKS too. If you take the offer, they will be classmates. HAhaha.

Yes, my son got Esf WKS offer! But I am still deciding, probably will incline it! Since "not guarantee an interview or place" is a big concern!!

One more thing....if i am not wrong, there is no guarantee interview for ESF primary school. BUT, there is priority for applying to Renaissance College or Discovery Bay College if you are a ESF Kg student. So, it still an advantage if you want to pursue the ESF (or ESF based) education for his future. (please correct me if i am wrong about this info).

關於討論德育好易搵交嗌嘅題目。個人一直認為教好小朋友德育係家長責任，而唔係學校責任。同是否IS 定係LS 無關。學校只需提供一個安全的學習環境及有高忍耐嘅態度去對待喜愛探索新事物兼攪鬼嘅豆靚便可。本人寧可仔女向我一言九頂，都好過係我面前扮乖，背後唔知佢地諗乜。

I agree that we should not depend on the school to teach our children ethics & manners, but the school does have a strong influence on the child's behaviour to a great extent. Even within our community, i can tell (most of the time) which child goes to ESF, the other Int'l Kindergarten, LS -1 or LS -2 kindergartens. The philosophy of the school does effect how the children are taught and managed within the school, and that would affect the kids' world view and interactions outside the school.

Again, never over generalize this as being IS vs. LS.
For example (also just a generalization; i am sure there are always exceptions):
Anfield kids are well behaved
ESF kids are curious and lively
Montessori kids have good manners
LS1 kids are funny and curious (just a local one in our neighbourhood, not famous)
LS2 kids are more quiet but still active ((just another local one in our neighbourhood, not famous)

Of course, how the parents guide their children and set examples at home is the most important factor.
