國際學校的中文課

國際學校中文課都是用普通話的，是否所有IS 都是用英文來教普通話的？

I don't know about ALL schools, but the one i picked all uses native mandarin teachers and they only speak mandarin, even to the parents who can understand Chinese.

如果對中文很有要求，請盡力幫助孩子自少留在top bench.  Top bench 教的文學深入很多的，低年級yr8能寫200-300字是平常，高年級yr10 or 11,IGSE考中文1st language，一般要求600-800字。其中一些在本地中三名校轉IS的學生，偶爾水準還略遜。

其實孩子的學習是有得有失的、某方面做多了、不其然就是少做了其他。家長對孩子的期望各有不同、就算家長的期望很高、也需孩子的性格和興趣相互配合、因此學習效果可以差異極大。
列舉以上中學生的程度例子、是想鼓舞其他家長、相信孩子和學校的能力、大力支持鼓勵、爭取學習机會、當孩子真心覺得自己行、進步空間便大多了。因此有必要護衛孩子在中文班的top tier, 其中又來了一些国内轉讀内學生、他們是根基好、在蝴蝶效應下、會有共振效應。

孩子現在多大？沒有不可能、做不做也是選擇而已。不喜歡或是多干其他活動興趣也是另類得啊！

才28個月，挺愛閱讀，作為媽媽，妳已經十分了不起。老實說英文卡通和兒童劇的內容和種類比中文的豐盛多了。孩子愛好英文也是十分正常的。

孩子的愛好，跟教材和誘導方法有直接關連的，暫時不用急進。記得Disney也有粵語或國語配音的卡通片，閒時跟孩子一起觀賞吧！小女小時候常看的中國卡通片有寶蓮燈，孫悟空，三國演義，一休和尚，要找多元化的兒童劇不容易。

她的第一語言是英文，依舊喜歡中國文化，近期發現beyond的歌，便愛上了。

我是28個月后才開始跟孩子認真講廣東話故事，翻書閱讀，似乎是三𡻕多以後的事了，之前是每晚関了燈，一邊創作故事一邊氹孩子安睡。跟妳相比，我是后知后覺啊！

Sometimes it is not only what you give her, but also what you do NOT give her (ie. no sugary snacks before meal if you want a child to have good appetite). Since Your daughter's level of English is good already, why don't you try slowly limiting her English entertainment (video & music) while increase good quality Chinese content?  Yes, Annie's Beyond is a great example. As long as it engages her, why not?

My boy's first language is also English, as i only spoke to him in English between 10-27 months of age (to avoid confusion). When i restarted Chinese in the afternoon (yes, fixed time period per day), he often ask me to speak in English. I would comply right away so that he wouldn't feel stressed, but slowly seep back the Chinese again in simple to understand phrase when he's in a good mood. Slowly but surely, we are doing Sunday full day Chinese conversation with my 3.25 years old boy, and continues to hold Chinese conversations when we are in a Chinese speaking environment.

Content wise, Chinese 'educational' program is waaaay too boring, and the quality of the 兒歌 condescending.  Choose something which she enjoys. Sorry my son is a very boy's boy, so my examples are 'full of testosterone'. His favourite chinese book is about cartoon animals fixing a car, fortunately he like Doraemon videos, and (breaking my own rules of no violent content) i am planning to show him 少林足球 (he's a die hard soccer fan) and all types of 式俠劇 since they catches a boy's attention. The key word here is ENGAGING. According to the seminar i once attended given by a language PhD (who's absolutely witty and funny), the key to learning any language is Comprehensive Compelling Content. Yup, he highlighted the word COMPELLING ;) Good luck!!

原來我的女兒小時候很像妳的囝囝呢！很少的時候竟然迷上「周星馳」的誇張喜劇，和李連杰的黃飛鴻電影，約五歲有天竟然要求我教抄寫「男兒當自強」的歌詞，暗想怎麼「鬼妹仔」是胡里胡塗的比一些香港孩子更愛中國文化呢？
Beyond不是我推薦的，是她從街外聽到的，原來沒有推廣，沒有宣傳，振動人心的音樂，依然會默默流傳。

才二歲人仔，就説學不好中文，真是言之尚早呢。小朋友尚幼，中文的能力的高低，绝对取决於父母對這門語言態度，身邊好多韓國人家庭，英國人家庭，孩孑可説流利中文，爲何？父母重視，肯付出時間丶精力甚至金錢。亦有好多爸爸或媽媽其中一方是香港人的，孩子的中文水平欲次之，重英輕中也。
