朋友的女兒今年六年級, 成績不太理想,想到英國寄宿學校讀中一, 已找agent問, 希望有這方面的媽咪可以給些意見!
哪幾間學校好呢?

另一間:
Band A:
3. LVS Ascot
4. Rossall School
5. Stover School

Band B:
6. Warminster School
7. Trinity School
8. Oswestry School

11. Windermere School

我對海外升學不認識, 有無人可以提供意見? 唔該

你朋友要先考慮:-
1. 地區
2. 男女校/女校
3. 中學/小學 (有d中學有yr7, 有d無; 有小學有yr7)
4. 小朋友成績
5. 小朋友年齡 (英國11歲讀yr7, 12歲讀yr8)

之後再睇下agent介紹的學校排名, 再上有關學校website睇學校資料。

另亦可自行揀學校再自行向學校申請。考入學試可以在英國文化協會考 (有收費)。

有些學校可經香港考試及評核局考入學試,但不知收費如何?British Council 收費多少?

以我所知, British Council 收費如下:-

1 session (less than 3 hours )  $1450 (incl courier charge)
2 sessions (less than 6 hours)   $2375 (incl courier charge)

當然實際收費以British Council為準

4 阿女成績普通
agent 俾的學校好似排名過500，in 一間要俾一間費用,她要選擇3間，有冇邊間校風良好？

若agent 給的是500過外, 你可以試下自己找心儀的學校報名

你找了多少間agent? 試下找些規模小的agent, 較用心去選校和跟進

我曾找過AA, 因為亞仔不是讀名校, 也沒有特異技能, AA當時只推介了一些pre schools, 要考Year 9 common entrance exam, 後來我找另一agent, 報了排名約200的學校 (兩間都收了), 自己又報考了一間歷史悠久的, 結果也取錄了。若是我當初只聽AA意見, 那就糟糕了。

你小朋友係唔係今年讀Yr7？揀咗邊間？

我仔仔有2間Offer，兩間都係理想學校，我地決定在新年時Visit呢兩間再決定！

我無用agent，全部自己報，當然報名費及考試費好多，但係值得！

你試下搵200－300的學校，再上網睇下，如果合意，有呢度媽咪話可以先把小朋友成績寄俾學校睇，如果學校覺得合適，佢地會叫你入申請表再安排考試。

Hi demio,

My son is going to start Year 7.

We are seriously considering Dauntsey's and Junior King's.  Junior King's is more preferred as the overall feedback is very good.  My friend's daughter is studying in Dauntsey's and they highly recommend too.  Dauntsey's has an independent and isolated campus while King's is quite scattered.  D is in rural area while K is in city.

How about yours?  Which schools you are going to visit ?

Woo, our son may be classmate!

My son got offers from Junior Kings and Oundle and we will visit both schools during Chinese New Year.  I heard from Mrs Lam that one of her client's son got admitted to Junior Kings, is that your son?  I only used Dolphin as exam center.  It is very difficult for us to decide which school as both are very goods.  :D

It is quite a difficult decision as both schools are very good.  Like my friend, she is still struggling Senior King's vs Charterhouse, very difficult decision.  Anyway, this is a happy problem.

Look forward to your sharing of the school visits.  See if our sons would be classmates.

As far as I understand, you can attend preparatory school for Year 7 or senior school for year 7 in the UK.

Some pre schools do not have their own senior schools and hence students have to sit for the common entrance exam for progressing to designated senior schools for Year 9.  Some senior schools have their own exam papers.

Normally students in preparatory school have to sit for the entrance exam in order to get into Year 9.

So, if a student starts Year 7 in a senior school, he / she normally does not have to sit for an exam for progressing to Year 9.
