With SPC as a backup, there is no harm in trying for MPS and see how the lottery goes.
Personally I think, in terms of future achievement, either school will groom your daughter to succeed. The difference I think is in personality. I find MPS students more outgoing, more eager to prove themselves, and make others acknowledge that they are good. SPC students are more reserved, but are also good once you get to know them.
I happen to be in a family with 3 generations in these schools and I can tell you the Marymounties in my family always insist they are better than the Paulinians. Are they really? Not everyone thinks so, esp the DG clan. Choose MPS if you are one of those who believe their personality is an ingredient to success, but need to consider if DSS is what you want.
