Re: Victoria, 嶺南, , which one is better.

My son, 13 months old, has joined the playgroup in Victoria.  I am quite disappointed.

Although their facilities and school outlook is good, their teaching is not good:
- The teacher seems very rushed without patience.
- The class size is quite big for playgroup (around 10-12).
- They rushed the child to finish the artworks at hand without giving them chance to create their own.
- Within the 2 hours, 1 hour is spent in playing the toys (usually by the child with their parent).  15 min for tea time, 15 min for song or story or artcraft, 15 for logistics (like washing hands, packing things etc), and 15 min music class and story telling by native English teacher (which is the best part of all).
- the best part is the music and story telling part by foreign teacher (very clear, can attract children, more patient)

My son learn nothing from the class.

This week, i enroll my son to the kindergarten nearby.  It turned out that it is quite good.  Although there are only 3 classmates, the teacher can very attentive to the children. There are around 15 - 20 minutes of playing toys by themselves, the rest of the time are doing the activities designed by the teacher.  In only one class, my son:
- learn the Cantonese word 'cut' (tsi) the cake
- learn the Cantonese word 'stick' (tsee) to the paper
- have a very big laughters when having singing and dancing activities
- can use crayon to draw on the paper (which he won't do at home no matter how I encourage him)
- can tear the paper orange as told and enjoy it very much

This kindergarten is much cheaper than Victoria.  I've never imagine with such result.  the only thing is that there is lack of English teaching medium in this kindergarten.

Re: Victoria, 嶺南, , which one is better.

My girl is studying at N1 at 嶺南 happily.  Teachers and "sum sum" are all very nice.  She has never complained about going to school even though she likes "sticking" to me and her father a lot.  Except for going to  school (嶺南,) she never allows us to leave her alone.  Compared to my nephew studying at N1 at other nursery, he does not want to go to school every single day which is a big headache for her mum.

totally agree.  My son joined their playgroup when he was 16 months old.  I felt very disappointed.  i.e. When my son had no interest for their arrangement.  The teacher "instructed" me to bring my son to a little corner and away from the classmates.  The teachers had no patience and imagine my 16 months old boy will understand or follow their instruction.

Re: Victoria, 嶺南, , which one is better.

That's really a bad experience.  If the teacher is of better patience and quality, he/she could get the boy's attention (this maggic thing happens mostly to my son when he attends the kindergarten nearby).  In fact, as i observed in the playgroup in Victoria, only a very small portion of kids enjoy the activities.

Re: Victoria, 嶺南, , which one is better.

the decoration of 蘇浙 is not so colorful. The teaching method is more fun at Victoria.
In my opinion, Victoria is a good kinder.  The unhappy experience that some of the mothers encountered are due to large class size at Victoria, and also maybe the kids are too small.
Victoria is really a bit commercial.  So you must accept large class size.  Kids that were born at year end may not be able to catch up.  My daughter's birthday is in Nov and some of her classmates are 13 months older than her.  But it's lucky that she caught up quite well after the first 2 months.

Sometimes she even want to go to school on Sat and Sun.

and one good thing about victoria is that they have 2 classmistresses, one being native english speaker.  Sometimes when i pronounce 'L' as 'air lo', my daughter will correct me, saying that it is not 'air lo', should be 'L'.
