If you have a definite plan for UK study, GCEAL. If US, SAT/AP. If other places, IB.

Nowadays, all qualifications are acceptable by the US, UK, Australia, Canada or Hong Kong colleges.

My two kids took the SAT/AP education system, my son and daughter respectively ended up studying in UK and Hong Kong.

Maybe for diversity purposes, it is relatively easier to be admitted if you use AL to apply for US colleges and SAT/AP results to apply for UK or Hong Kong colleges,.

If u are aim at Ivy League or oxford or Cambridge or the similar priority university.
The difficulties of the IB sat or gce  are same.

caa  Thx for sharing! A good read especially for parents who do not exclude the possibilities of letting children study overseas.  發表於 13-10-7 08:57

Not a useful comparison. By insisting A level in HK, you are limiting your school choices to only a handful of schools in HK. Getting in a good school is already very difficult in HK, are you sure it is worth it to disregard all schools with IB?

If you say you need this info only in a tie break situation, then you should come back and ask when you have two offers, one A level and one IB with school names.

The more bizzare a thing is, the less mysterious it proves to be.
