we originally planned to send our son in Year 12. Now changing our mind to send him next year, i.e. Year 10 (as we missed the 'chance' in Year 9).
I think Year 7 might be too early, the kid is too young to take care of himself.
Year 9 should bet the 'right' year. The kid should be more confident and independent, while, start earlier in boarding school would be good for his academic and personality development.
Once enter teenage, I found it challenging to discipline my boy. He likes playing on his computer all the time at home. If you stop him or scold him, arguments or even fights will occur! It's damaging to the parent-kid relationship.
So, I think maybe it's a good idea to 'pass' the kids to the hands of teachers and house masters (who have abundant experience in handling teenagers) to discipline and coach them. While, parents keep their roles as care and love providers! |
