agree! parents from this forum are obsessed about native English accent and mix with westerners. this is a kind of discrimination. the ability to think logically and to act sensibly are much more important than native accent. language is only one of our means to communicate. research show that we convey our message through 70% non-verbal means (gesture) and 30% verbal means.

Not many foreigners can speak Chinese, that's why people are so surprised hearing fluent Chinese spoken by a foreigner. while as many Chinese can speak fluent or native English, it makes no difference in the minds of the foreigners. my foreign friends all told me as long as they can communicate with a person, how good that persons English is makes no difference at all

識講普通話可能係職場，社會，未來工作好有用。但讀書考試就無咩用。DSE，IB 都唔使考普通話ga.....
但英文唔好，考試會唔合格，大學都無得讀。

我不會，有D人可能會，或者民族自卑感吧！

講真，比如在英國，honglish肯定好過cockney口音，仲可能好過aussie音（英國佬好中意make fun of aussie音, or perhaps aussies in general）.

但當然，我不會選YC, 因為，香港太多obsessed with native accent的人，不過大陸仲多！比香港更崇洋。

有時，很無奈，明明很荒繆，但逆流而行，很難的！！
