中學部.只是最近有個聖心小學的媽咪說top 50才可入回 ... The difference of top 50 and top 80 is depends on how you look at the ranking. It's because when being considered for S1 promotion, the ranking of students are not based on the average of raw scores, where internal rankings are based on. This applies to ANY students of ANY Schools apply for Secondary School Places Allocation (SSPA) system.
Basically, students will be ranked on each subjects and will be given a converted score in relations to the median score. Then each converted score will be multiply by different weight and then summarized for ranking purpose.
In short, a student who internally rank 60+ can possibly be ranked much lower if the converted score on 1-2 subjects are particularly low and in overall fall after 80. So, being ranked within top 50 simply means it is safer to be sure eventually fall within top 80 after the conversion only.
The second criteria need to understand is allocation are done by batch of banding. All band 1 students should be safe to be allocated while number of band 2 students will exceed remaining quota so will then depends on luck. This explains some of the students rank lower be allocated while some rank higher cannot.
The SSPA from EDB is a complex system so above just give u a brief idea.
