I'm not familar with the British system. Does it mean that a student can sit f ... As far as I know, there are two GCSE exam sessions normally held in Jan and May each year. Each subject may be comprised of several modules and a student can take some modules of the subject (say 30% of the subject) in Jan exam and the remaining modules (say 70%of the subject) in May exam. Or else the student can sit for all modules of the subject at one time. If the student does not satisfy with the exam result for Jan exam, he can re-sit the exam in the next exam session even though he obtains A grade in the previous sitting. Some UK schools may allow top set students to sit for a few subjects in Year 10 and the remaining subjects in Year 11. Some schools may only allow students to sit for the subject at one time while some schools may allow students to sit for several modules of the subject at one time and the remaining modules in another sitting. However, some top notch UK schools do not allow students to take partial modules for the exam and only allow one sitting at the end of Year 11. You may check with the schools concerned on their exam policy.
