My daughter had her first lesson yesterday, so I can't tell say much yet.  Actually you can take your child there for a free assessment and the person in charge of the centre will talk you through the program, and only then do you have to decide whether or not to join.

Their website has a list of all Kumon centres, you can check it out and see if there's one near you.

I called but the lady said that she will get someone to call me to arrange assessement but they never did.

I just want to know if we can choose between simplified and traditional character.  Is Kumon's teaching based on the individual progress?

Yes you can choose to learn in simplified or traditional Chinese. And yes the student/parent can set the pace of learning. It's really like self-study with some assistance. And there is homework every day. The homework is meant to be finished within half an hour. Like for my child she's starting at the lowest level (as she doesn't know any putonghua) and her first week just involves learning words using picture cards eg 嘴，牛，羊and then moving on gradually to short sentences (這是一隻羊）

Well like I said, she only had one lesson so far. So she quite like it coz it's something new. The teaching materials got pictures on them so it's not too boring.  And more importantly there isn't ant writing to do (yet!) so by comparison to the Chinese writing class that she's having, she definitely like kumon more!
