KCIS vs. ESF

KCIS and ESF QBS which one is better in terms of:

School environment, teachers' quality
Overall academic achievement
Overall students' quality/ conduct
English standard among students
Reputation

I understand it may be a little difficult to compare especially when we talk about academic... Both offer different curriculums, with ESF offering IB, but still, hope you could share your views.

Appreciate your advice.

I think ESF is better in respect of the following criteria:

School environment, teachers' quality
Overall academic achievement
Overall students' quality
English standard among students
Reputation

However, you should take note that in the secondary, the overall students' conduct in ESF tends to be more "western" and their Chinese standard will be inferior to KCIS.

Lastly, the curricula of both ESF and KCIS in the secondary are IGCSE (instead of IB MYP) followed by IB DP.

I think secondary school still seems a little distant for now, let's hope by that time the kids going to the secondary school the IB MYP would have been introduced already. After all, the PYP has also just been started in the ESF primary schools just a few years.

Btw, does your kid studying in any of these schools (QBS/ KCIS)?

I have not heard of any plan to switch from IGCSE to IB MYP from any of the two schools.

No need to think, ESF is much better, my daughters are KCIS students I felt a bit disappointed about the school.

dear meimei123, also want to know why？becos of their acedemic standard？quality of student？i admit that they are not too international，but my colleague highly recommended this school as her girl，now at P1 enjoys the school very much。i am always thinking about this school as we have priority but not sure if it is worth to pay the relatively expensive school fee（compared to free local school or those DSS）. it is the only IS my girl have chance - i dont think she can get in other IS as we didnt train her english at all。

Probably their previous school did very well, thus, I felt this one is not enough overall.

我女讀緊KCIS K1, 我覺得學校好似LOCAL咁...不過就用英文教
同校舍唔大...
不過IS來講, 學費算平, SO FAR都滿意
可能我女個班個老師好好, 所以我又覺得無咩問題

記得, 係唔係9月入呀?
係就同我女同級
我又覺得學校唔係太差
但就緊係唔可以同ESF/GSIS個D比啦
最少校舍都細好多......
不過我又滿意, 學費唔太貴, 校車平
我個班個老師幾好....
間間學校都有好有唔好
唔駛太擔心

Don't worry, KCIS is not too bad, just not my type of tea, I think I want my kids learn a lot & not too simply messy stuffs, I like systematics & know more what they learn, but these parts KCIS cannot satisfy me.  But those teachers are nice & caring.

We are talking about the primary section, aren't we?
Some people may prefer KCIS Primary because of its Mandarin subject as I heard.

當年我同樣係KCIS及ESF二選一, 我就選了ESF, 原因係資源問題! 因KCIS讀上去中學, 畢業生唔多, 怕佢資源唔夠, 選科的選擇少, 事實上當年佢出的中學IB成績上, 可見的科目真係唔多...而且每科報讀的人數都少(因只有2班), ESF就有成5班, 每校畢業生都有百幾人.....財力、資源相對多D....

當然, 中文ESF一定冇KCIS咁好, 睇下你著重那一方面多D囉~
朋友仔仔讀QBS都每日有中文課, 現Y2, 每星期都有默下中文詞語, 但我仔仔間ESF就冇啦~

My kids are studing the second year in KCIS and I am very satisfied so far.  The teachers are nice and the school fee is reasonable.  I  will give my kids to continue their study in KCIS.

Hi, IIEE would u like to share a bit on the communication channels among the teachers and the parents?
will they send mesages via emails or newletters to update the daily activities /photos to u ?

Actually, I ve got an offer from this school for a year 1 place for my boy,in the coming Sept, but I still have hesitation on the school adminstration and performance of the kids studying in this school, coz there is not much ppl talking about this school in bk. Many thanks !
