我知道Victoria好出名，又好難入
不過它的強項我不是太清楚
希望各位家長分享

I think the kids are quite strong in languages. my girl is in K 3 now. been studying there since 2 years old. She loves her school and everyone there! Quite fluent in english and putonghua.

Thanks for your reply!  Does your child speak English or Putonghua at home?

mainly cantonese. she didn't understand much english when she started pre nursery!

heard Vic is weak in Mathematics.  When is arithmetic taught?  in K2 or K3?

What sunlovers said were quite true. I find that Vic has their own standards of what should be expected of kids of different ages and levels, and they teach according to that. And Vic just gives a lot of off-class materials to parents, such that if the parents wishes to drill the kids to advance futher, parents can do the drilling themselves. This seems to me to strike good balance for doing things at their own pace, and, giving parents weapons to do drilling themsleves if so wished

if you think about it further, you will understand that school class lasts only 3 hours each day, which is all that allows teachers to teach singing, to give kids time eating, going to toilets...so, you can't hand over all the teaching work to the school. Parents need to guide their own chidlren on language, academics, physical exercise after work.

Victoria seems very organised and experienced.  Do you think it is a suitable school if we are going for IS?  I am more concerned on the language environment, in particular to English.  However I understand that Victoria HMT only provides English/ Cantonese at PN level, so I am concerned that Cantonese might still be the main language in class.

Each pn class has it's own NET full time there. Also, PN students should only be able speak in simple short english sentence, even in IS. Thus, Vic is not out of class. In fact, Vic  students' English are already better than many other schools. But if u expect somthing as good as IS, u need to fairly remember that IS students know only English and should therefore be much much better than Vic students. You can both have the cake and eat it 不能同時魚與熊掌. There are Vic students going to IS, as a fact, but they must have good house training. I guess you are asking whether school can do all the training for u. I don't think so.
